What gets lost in this season is that Kansas City beat both of the teams that played in that year's Super Bowl (Seattle and New England). They looked like a solid team sitting at 7-3 after this win, but they'd go on to lose 4 of their next 5 including a three game skid that basically eradicated their playoff hopes to end that season.

He was certainly a HoF talent, but his lack of TDs and the injuries hurt him like many other potential HoF candidates.
