A gifted athlete, clutch, very long, a very smart ballplayer who listened to mentors, and the son of a minister. Add it all up, that's Jamaal.

Jamaal Wilkes wasn't just so silky smooth, he also a sweet all-around game. John Wooden once said that if he could construct his perfect player he'd look a lot like Jamaal. Wilkes' was never the main man but without him those teams wouldn't have been nearly as good. He was an important piece on those great Walton led UCLA teams, the Rick Barry chip winning Warriors in 74-75, and was instrumental in helping those Showtime Lakers win their first chip. I mean, Jamaal had that funky form on his outside shot but he could drain it. He could could also defend, attack the basket, and rebound. "Silk" didn't make the Hall of Fame for nothin. Thanks for the excellent video.

He's my second favorite small forward ever behind Larry Bird. He's the epitome of what a forward was in the classic era.

Man, you're killing it with these mixtapes & just who you're showcasing. You went deeeeep here with one of the greatest ever. 2-time NCAA Champ, NBA Rookie Of The Year, 4- time NBA Champ, Hall Of Fame Inductee.......S...I...L...K!! Once again perfect groove selection riding alongside this timeless footage. Even when fine defenders like the Good Doctor & the Secretary of Defense Mr. Bobby Jones played that Mo Cheeks chest to chest D on him, still getting that behind the neck shot off. Silk made moving without the ball an art form and as your video shows he was always rewarded for that grind by sometimes being on the receiving end of the 'Give & Go' from the Goat/the Captain/#33. This video selection shows when pro b-ball was b-ball 4 real. I miss watching this golden age of the game & I really miss watching Jamaal Wilkes do his thing on that hardwood. Thanks for posting this! I see by your choice of subject, you know & respect those who more than paved the way. I'm about to hit that replay arrow & enjoy this again!

I'M FROM S.F. WE WON IT IN 1974 UNDER AL ATTLES. OUR CENTERS WERE CLIFFOTD RAY AND JOHNSON. WE HAD RICK BARRY, KEITH WILKES, DJ., PHIL SMITH, CCHARLES DUDLEY AND A HOST OF GOOD PLAYERS. THEY WERE SO FUN TO WATCH BACK THEN.. I BELIEVE IN 1975 WE WON 106 GAMES, AND LOST IN THE 1ST ROUND. DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT, BECAUSE I USED TO FIGHT, AND THE OLD BRAIN CANT TAKE TOO MUCH. HECK, I BELIEVE MUHAMMED ALI WAS THE GREATEST, AND LOOK HOW HE ENDED UP!

The most underrated career in basketball history 3 time All American 2 time NCAA Champion Coach Wooden called him his most complete player 1974-75 NBA Rookie of the year and 4 time Champion he backed up Magic's 42 with 37 of his own. Wilkes should be on the list of the top small forwards in league history.

It's crazy I read he had an unorthodox jump shot, but I shoot the same and it works perfectly fine hard for people to block and especially if you get enough lift and hang time. I always was a knock down shooter, but my cousin showed me to shoot like this. It takes awhile to get use to if you have been shooting a certain way your whole life, but it helps when being closed out on or guarded up close. Keep your eyes on the rim and follow through. It's a beautiful thing I know Jamaal feels the same way.
