Just looking at my avatar you can see I'm not a nylon guitarist but I DO love this song and your tutorial gives clear, easy to follow instructions which can be used as a starting point to make it my own. The advice about starting on the bass-line first is pure gold. Thanks Sal. A very valuable lesson from a talented but humble Aussie.

This IS helpful, Sal. Tutorials like this one are priceless to me. This is what I've been looking for. There are so many tutorials out there saying like "put your i finger on this fret and hit this string etc..." which I personally don't need because I can see what's going on in the tab. What I need is tutorials like this one with overall guidance, i.e. showing where to start, how to proceed and how put the chunks together. Thank you. Please do more videos of this sort.

Thanks for the feedback. I asume some level of skill in my videos. Teaching at virtual beginner level is a deep rabbit hole I don't want to go down.

Thank you - one of my fav songs. Your explanation of basic Calypso picking pattern was super helpful - with it you can nail the rest of the song. Btw - Belafonte's version is in D - I wonder if his guitarist just used capo - playing in C makes adding melody notes super easy.
