On my recent trip to Osaka a few months ago for the creators event with my friends, we had the sudden urge to eat Jamaican food. We found a spot called “Corner Shop Jerk” @perverseiq . This place was slamming! The food was amazing but most of all was the owner/ chief IQ. He was super funny and spoke Jamaican Patois. We had a quick interview with him and had one of the hardest laughs in Osaka. #jamaica #jamaicanaccent #learnenglish #osakapeople #osakaaccent #english

That is a common statement in Jamaica, the line a bit less known and more debated is "Good name betta than money!" (A good name is better than money) I learnt this first hand because I was supposed to be expelled after a fight, but I was highly respected, one teacher said "Everybody knows he isn't the kind of person that enters meaningless conflicts, it things were so bad that he slammed someone's head in a wall he probably gave a number of warnings" and that was the end of that discussion. Another common statement is "Manners carry yo through the world" (Manners can brin you through the world) simply being the kind of person that gives waves of acknowledgement, say good morning and good evening has caused people to give me discounts, invite me to events, give me free rides to different locations and on. It is amazing how internalizing small ideas significantly change the flow of our life.
@Aetolus Жыл бұрын
I understand that feeling, I was from HK and my kindergarten English teacher was a Irish-Scot lady from Britain. I lost that accent eventually(tragic I know), but imagine a bunch of kids of different ethnicity(Chinese, Caucasian, Africans, etc) speaking very thick and heavy Scottish accent at a mere age of 3. My mom used to bring me to this restaurant pub for lunch after school, the Scottish owner ended up being my god father(RIP da god bless his soul) solely because "ye accent means ye belong to us now laddie".
