@@brandondenver4331: I once wrote and "published" a political poem the clear point of which was a criticism of illegal, immoral, and indeed deadly behavior on the part of one of our government programs. It was a threat only insofar as telling the truth can be construed as a threat. And this sort of thing is protected under the First Amendment. And yet I got a call [from Agent Pellogrosso, agent "danger"] from the local office of ICE inviting me to come down to talk with him and his partner. When I asked him a few preliminary questions he lied twice, telling me once that I could not bring my attorney with me but would have to come visit them alone! Imagine. Did he think I was stupid? Well probably he did. So I said to him, "Let me get this straight. You want me to come down there alone into a private room with two armed men?" To this he answered, "Well, yes." And to this I responded, "Well, Agent Pellegrosso, [Agent Danger] thanks but no thanks," and to which he answered predictably, "Well if you choose TO NOT COOPERATE that is your right," and to which I responded, "Indeed that is right" and hung up. So, ICE, which is the second largest federal law enforcement operation, had the time to open up an investigation of a good, honest, and articulate citizen who was performing his duty in a nation where to do so is protected by the Bill of Rights, and were willing to take that time when they might have used it to investigate real criminals--which includes willful liars like themselves. So, that said, I don't think your comment is worth a damn, and was written by an apologist and a person who is operating from utterly conventional and un-reflected opinions and who has confused mere opinions and their own un-reason with Reason itself! Do you say to your neighbors, "be reasonable?" Jesus. You are a long long way from being able to legitimately ask such a thing of your neighbors who see things far far more clearly than you are capable of in your current intellectual condition. So my advice is to slow down, stop, and think before bringing such nonsense to bear upon your better neighbors. It will make you a better person--and a better and more modest neighbor. JWC

What we need is an easy way to report these callers and capable people on the other end doing something with the data to stop it. Monitoring the accounts of loved ones is not an effective solution to this problem.

FBI don’t really handle these scammers. Reported these scammers and still receiving more. The retired CIA & FBI got first priority, this is favoritism and we all pay their salaries.

All this can be avoided by simply not answering the phone if the caller ID is a phone number (as opposed to someone already in your phone contacts). Legitimate callers will, more often than not, leave you a voicemail if they truly need to talk to you; from there, you can decide whether or not you want to add them to your phone contacts list so that the next time they call, their caller ID will identify them.

Egg: You're so smart. If everyone was just like you the world would be a very nice place to live, instead of the veil of tears that it is and full of people (like who) who think they know what they clearly do not know. Have a nice day. JWC

I use to work at a call center that did outbound call sales. We had two different types of call queues. One for current cellphone customers and one for landline customers. Roughly 90% of my calls, on landline, were elderly and some senile. I hated calling them because it was so easy to get them to sign up for tv packages that I knew they didn’t need or want but management pushed us. We were disciplined if they heard we didn’t try hard enough on calls. I ended up switching to a different campaign(inbound calls for insurance) because I thought It would be easier. I quit mid training. I guess call centers aren’t my thing 🤷🏻♂️

There is the very unlikely situation here that the caller was actually in the US. That pretty much never happens.

Unfortunately, in countries like India, they have hundreds of scam call centers, Law enforcement arrests roughly .05 % of them annually. Sometimes the law enforcement there is paid to look the other way, or there is way too many or them to actually ever get them all.
@ShouinGN2 жыл бұрын
Regardless of this couple's connections, the fact remains that EVERYONE needs to talk to their elderly loved ones, neighbors, or friends about these scams. It's easier to prevent the abuse than to remedy it after the fact! Plus, scammers are routinely extradited from Jamaica, so the notion that the FBI sleeps on this for other victims but jumped on it for these two is uninformed.
