This recipe was sooooo goooood! I used packaged frozen soursop pulp and key lime juice. The nutmeg made it extra special. Came out thick enough to stand a spoon up. So we "thinned" it with Jamaican rum and shaved ice. My guests were quite happy! Thanx Fay!

You are a true sweet lady, warm at heart & love your aura. At home in Puerto Rico is called Guanabana; we make it with cane sugar or we dig in to the fruit. My Nana has a tree in the back of her house. Our island fruit is pretty big so big you need 2 hands to hold yet very sweet.

My understanding is that a sour sop and a cherimoya are in the same family, but a sour sop is SOUR a different taste. A cherimoya is sweet much much sweeter, and smaller.

yayyyy! wow. 'tis soooo goood to see this type of caribbean cooking on youtube. i just came across your channel and instantlyyyyy fell in love with the home good feel of this video. i totaly agree with your objective of making these videos available for our diaspora west indians and young ones to learn these amazing recipes. it's even great to see similarities and differences from other caribbean states. i've enjoyed soursop punch with evaporated milk or powdered milk or fresh coconut milk and sugar, with a couple dashes of angostura bitters. i prepare mine by cutting the fruit into quarters, if firm still, or filling the blender with half soursop and half water and pulse it to separate the seeds from the flesh. i then strain this soursop "milk", add whatever milk i've available, nutmeg and bitters. never tried it with lime, but will definitely do so next time. i have a tree in d yard. keep up the caribbean yumminess! ah luv it!!!!!!!!! btw, i'm a trini. as far as i know we do call it soursop too. :DD

Thanks for the preparation tips, and showing that process. Very helpful for folks who have not seen how to eat guanabana. I went looking for information about it, I saw in a local store's freezer section this afternoon, several dozen half-pints of guanabana flavored, vegan friendly, ice cream. I plan to go back and pick one up and try it after reading about the fruit and watching your video.

We call this fruit, Soursop in Trinidad. I miss these fruits from my childhood days. We used to make Soursop ice cream in Trinidad. I have no idea what they are doing with it now. The tree is so easy to grow, just throw the seeds outside and they grow, but it seems that most people are not planting these fruit trees in their backyard (if they have one) anymore. We always had a tree in the yard. Thanks for the recipe, I will have to wait until I go on vacation to make this.

I'm from the Netherlands, and went to Central-America (Costa Rica) for the first time. I had guanabana juice on the very first night, and it has been my favorite fruit ever since. I am now obsessed with finding the same juice I had then, at that time, but it's nowhere to be found in Europe. I did find just the guanabana fruit itself, but was clueless on what to do with it. ultil now! thanks for this video! it helped me out a lot!

seeds in a lot of fruits have vitamins in them that are only found in seeds and roots, so you might want to eat the seeds too! See Vitamin B-17 (laetrile). If you don't eat the seeds, you might become dificient of that vitamin.

I understand traditions and all but this is such a rich, flavorful fruit that I don't see the point of adding condensed milk, vanilla, citrus, etc since those ingredients will kill the fruit's flavor. Great video anyway.
