Man that straight flush chop has to hurt. It was the right call since you needed more chances to hit a straight but that always stings when you could have got the whole pot if you didn’t run it twice.
@johnmax1082 жыл бұрын
running it twice is so weak...if u cant handle the variance you're not properly rolled for those stakes...
@TheDrawingDeadVlog2 жыл бұрын
Lol it's all about variance nothing about being properly rolled. Running it twice doesn't change equity if your 35% to win, you're still 35% to win no matter how many times ya run it. I assure you, the 2 people in this pot are properly rolled for 5/10 ☺
@tomf58232 жыл бұрын
@@TheDrawingDeadVlog running it twice doesn't change equities you're 100 percent correct. but most people play so much worse when losing (especially when they lose with a premium like qq. if you handle losing better than your opponents it makes no sense to run it twice. running it once also gets the game deeper. if you're better deep than your opponents it's another reason to run it once.
@TheDrawingDeadVlog2 жыл бұрын
@@tomf5823 I agree with you, I just didn't agree with the other comment that it necessarily has anything to do with being properly rolled long term. If you aren't properly rolled you'll most likely go broke, you may go broke slower but eventually the math do it it's 'mathing'

I just watched the AQs hand. Regarding 3 bet sizing, I generally follow Bart Hanson's approach, which is around 3x the raise in position (4x out of position) plus the callers. Using that formula, your $150 was just about the $160 the formula dictates (3*$40 + $40). Not too big by any means.

So. I have a question for you guys that play way more poker than I. When you have big hole cards and two suited hit the board, why don’t you bet the pot to scare off the “flush floppers?” Doesn’t a pot sized bet price them out of calling?
@TheDrawingDeadVlog2 жыл бұрын
If you did that then what would you do when you don't have big hole cards and 2 suits hit the board... Check? In other words, you would become transparent really fast. "Hey, when David bets he has a good hand and when he checks he has a weaker one..."

Okay, Jaman, I have another question and hope I’m not being a pest. I have noticed that you always buy in for the maximum amount, even went back to older vlogs and you did the same for lower limits. The first couple of books I read years ago actually discussed maximum buy-in vs minimum buy-in. I think I understand that 150 big blinds gives some flexibility, but a minimum buy in can protect one’s bankroll. Right?!?

Oooooo... that rivered boat hurt way over here! Yes, it's true. Every session can't be a "W". As much as we'd all like that. Curious question, have you EVER lent money to another Poker player (with the obligatory promise to pay it back & my word is good!) only to have that person blow you off for 6 weeks and FINALLY promise to meet up with you over a weekend to take care of everything, and ghost you? If so, how did you handle it? Absorb the loss and chalk it up to "Never again"? Openly berate the person in the poker room to the point where they don't want to show their face there anymore? Or lastly, have a close friend offer to 'take care of it for you' because you two are tight and that would leave you out of any unsavory scenario? Asking for a friend... 🤔
@TheDrawingDeadVlog2 жыл бұрын
Yep. I lent money($300) to a friend, actually a guy I knew BEFORE we both started playing poker and he then avoided me for awhile. Eventually I chalked it up to "Lesson learned: Both about lending money and about him" and wrote them both off. Years later I found out that I got off cheaply as he had been borrowing money around town for many years and never paying anyone back.
@stevewheels97732 жыл бұрын
@@TheDrawingDeadVlog Thanks man, appreciate your honesty. Haven't settled on which scenario to take yet. Who knows, I might get surprised this weekend! But somehow, I feel a public shaming is in order. Let them go downtown to the new Horseshoe and never show their face again out West. My gut feeling is they'll just keep showing up & playing, knowing they owe me, but take advantage of my 'situation', all while never even making an attempt to make restitution. $100 here, $100 there. They're not the brightest bulb when it comes to playing. Last time I saw them play a hand, they donked off $500 when they turn a K high flush heads up on a paired board (1-2, heads up mind you). Other player makes it $21, they raised to $45. Personally I felt the bet was too weak as it was barely 1/2 pot. River brings what appears to be a straight, but I couldn't see that well. Villan checks, they bet $125 where the Villan comes back over the top for $350. 😮 They take maybe 5 seconds and call. Villan shows a rivered boat. Their rationale? "If he can beat a King high flush, more power to him." No thought whatsoever to the amount they owe me, which I just watched get tossed away... and it's not the first time I've seen this speedy, loose play from them where they lost. I'm sure I've missed others akin to those hands which makes me believe they could have reimbursed me long ago. Add on the contracting job they just finished that was supposed to pay them over 5K, and I'm being ignored... to my face. I know if I wasn't in my 'situation', they wouldn't be taking advantage of me like this. Very distressing... But, again. Thanks for your response.

Another poker question. How do you beat “No Fold ‘em Hold ‘em?” I’m sure you started at lower limits and the game you played was different from now. So here is the dilemma: The players will play any A, any suited Face, any two suited, any two Faces, any 10-2, any A-8, and will play them from ANY position. They will limp and then call ANY raise. Example: last night four folks limped in for $2 each; I’m BB and look at A-A. I raise to $25 hoping for one caller. EVERYONE CALLS THE $25. Flop comes 3-3-J. Nothing to worry about. $50 I bet. Two people call… turn comes a blank and I move all in. One person calls from late position and shows 5-3 for trips. Oh well. That’s poker???
@TheDrawingDeadVlog2 жыл бұрын
That's actually the easiest form of poker to play. The only way to beat it, especially in raked games is to play UBER tight so that you start with a really good hand because they are more likely to win by the river. Bet when your hand is strong, show extreme caution when players get aggressive towards you. You'll win fewer pots, but the pots will be larger. You just have to be comfortable with the loses to "strange" hands in between
