Thank you for this. My family are Jehovah’s Witness and use James to justify “ faith without works is dead” they are earning their salvation ( so they believe) I tried telling them that works come automatically when you have faith, it’s not to earn anything. You do works because you have mercy, compassion and a new heart

Wonderful message! I am definitely the faint-hearted kind of person Paul was talking about. What he said makes so much sense. I wish I could have heard a message like this about 15 years ago!

I was in the faint hearted category and constantly questioned myself. I went through a severe spiritual attack in a vision, but God put a hedge of faithful friends around me. I learned not to trust my feelings but put on the whole armour of God and trust Him even when I didn’t feel anything. Now I am confident knowing that regardless of my feelings Jesus loves me and will never leave me nor forsake me. I always felt I didn’t measure up, but now I pray for God to use me and fill me with His power through the Holy Spirit. I am now able to encourage others who are needed to be lifted up. Im so encouraged by your teachings - and for your compassion and humour when delivering your messages. So thank you for all you do and blessings to your church. Michèle ( Shetland islands)

It is not I who live but Christ who lives in me. I was bought with a price and baptized into death. It was my Father who gave me the faith and it is He who does the work both in me and through me. Glory be to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit who now indwells me and leads me.

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. This is Love in action. These are the essence of God. Paul says imitate me as I am imitate God. God has all power but His power under control. Could we imagine unleashed? We would be toast!

Father God, forgive us where we have fallen short and help us to grow in your living faith! In accordance with this word and james 2:14-26, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 I bind to hell all death faith in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquitances, opponents and the body of Christ while binding one to a living faith with good works, binding to hell every unequal yoke and common share with those who have death instead of living faith, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah, glory to God!

One of the best things that has happened to me is finding CCO ONTARIO. It's this scripture that has messed with my perception of grace and salvation for a long time. I always wondered, if it's not by faith alone then are the works I do enough? When is it enough for the faith to be a living faith and I always felt so angry with James because it to me went against what Paul said ( the other Paul) and it's messed with me for years, and now I am finally free of this false way of thinking. I'm a fainthearted person in this way, but not anymore, it is changing and going a different way starting now. Thank you so very much

When you work really hard to explain why You believe what you believe instead of just believing what scripture teaches you preach from your context and not the true context.

I'm a christian but I struggle to believe God exist. I condemn myself and it makes me not want to be a Christian anymore because I don't want to be fake or a hypocrite. I'm definitely an over thinker about my actions, thoughts , feelings and emotions. Which is discouraging. I need a sermon on overthinking and self criticism

I think that this is in reference to what I call “thoughts and prayers platitudes”. Here we see that well wishing and prayer is not enough. For what are prayers to change fortune but demanding that God intercede? And if we know that he will not intercede because he does not answer to our beck and call, then those prayers are made in bad faith. No, if we pray, it should be to change our hearts and open our eyes to the path God wishes us to walk. And we should not demand that God directly intervene, but rather we should actively try to make the world a better place by action.

The most important James verse to a gentile is James 1:1 when it tells who the whole book is written to.

It’s still very applicable to all of us, as this book was written by a Christian to Christians, with tons of practical wisdom for any Christian to learn from.
