Mine had, and I think it was labelled “ABS” (not car-brake related) that just made everything sound better. Like, I don’t why that wasn’t the default setting. It made no sense. My Aria disc man was orange and it was good.
@RongleBringer2 жыл бұрын
Some of them had a feature you could toggle that would read a second or two ahead and store it in a tiny amount of memory so that if the laser lost track it could make up the gap. I think it did work for me (also back in 1999) but I recall it would run the battery down much faster, and in those days rechargeable AA batteries were a rarer thing, so I had to be judicious about choosing when to use it. Lifesaver on a bumpy schoolbus though.

I'm five years younger than James (born 1990), and it was a CD player in the back of the van for me. Which is a blessing because I have ADHD and related incoordination (dyspraxia), and can't keep a discman level to save my life. Or perform steady-handed surgery to save someone else's.

I remember being on a science club field trip for my middle school in 2007, and I put a CD player at the top of my backup on top of some books, and I had the headphones on so that the chord was hanging off the back of my neck. I sat that way during a long bus ride, listening to Abbey Road, and it didn’t skip (although I thought it did at the end of She’s So Heavy, but the song just ends abruptly).

I'm thinking of trying my hand in stand up and I don't want to be a Chapelle or a Jeselnik that just rely on controversy or shock value for their act. I look up to Acaster, a genuinely hilarious comic that can appeal to anyone by just being plain hilarious. I doubt Chapelle or his ilk could go without their crutch for fifteen minutes and get more than a couple awkward chuckles. This is a real comic
@dyodoleu11 ай бұрын
Chapelle REALLY fell off. Hard. I remember watching him as a teenager and found him genuinely funny (and not just because I was a teenager, lmao I just realised I set myself up there) but what he does now compared to back then is like night and day. He's became an old man shaking his fist angrily at passing clouds

Hey brother, I'm a big fan. Love your work, but I don't quite understand the logic. I paid three different times to watch this act halfway around the world in the middle of the night, when I could stay awake, but what horrible deal did you sign that I can't pay somewhere to watch it over again complete? Good on you for quitting whatever, or whatever it is you're going through. I'll respect your journey, but I already paid money, and am willing to pay more to just see this. I didn't need the other thing.
