I agree with Jesy Nelson. All X-Factor winners have talent and some have very beautiful voices but James Arthur is special. He co-writes and produces most of his songs and if you listen to their stories you realise the lad is really something special. You can feel his pain and his search to achieve something in his life. Most of his songs tell his story but the last one on his Latest album (Finally) tell you what the lad is searching for in his life.

He wrote every song on his album, a lot of the co-writes are where he's recorded a demo, took it to the studio and made improvements, structure changes with producers, writers etc. A large majority of the lyrics and melodies come from James himself. I completely relate to this song because my father, unfortunately, lost his life to alcohol. He hit depression, and the rest was history. This song allows me to let my emotions out. The memories of me picking him up from the bar, making sure when he slept on his side, calling the ambulance multiple times. I wish he would have seen the light but unfortunately, alcohol took his life away. He's been gone for 2 years. The hardest thing about losing my dad was that the first year was the hardest especially due to the reason i was completing my last year in college. I did graduate but was the hardest thing i accomplished. I wish he was around.

i think about my dad when i hear this song too. he's also an alcoholic who walked out 21 years ago. i wonder and worry because i have no idea where he is or how he is doing. last time i saw him was at his father's funeral nine years ago, where we stood right next to each other for hours and said nothing. his father was the only one in the family trying to keep us connected. no one else in the family understands how hurt i am by the choices he has made. and he tells his friends only what he wants them to know and they want me to get over my hurt and make my father feel better because he is alone. i'm sorry, i could go on forever. i'm sorry that you lost your father and that things couldn't have been better for you.

Basically Holly This is how I worry to death about my daughter, who just turned 18 in feb and is out late driving around most nights. Never texts to let me know she's safe My heart & soul shatters knowing I'm not her number one anymore. It's hard to let go even a little. We really dont understand our parents and that some are lucky to have someone that even cares. some mothers, fathers or both parents dont care at all. most kids growing up not hearing i love you. its sad. i argue with my mom a lot and i dont get her, but she actually and truly loves me and cares. its crazy how when we get older we realize that but at the moment we dont. life is crazy. i would say love your parents and all that good stuff, but nah. One day the lucky ones will see that parents or whoever raising you and loves you is a blessing.

I love the meaning behind this song. I remember watching the video for the first time and instantly thinking that the love behind the song + video was between the father and daughter but now I understand that it was the love the brother had for his little sister. About a year ago was when I first typed "James Arthur" on the search bar. I did it because of a book I was reading online. The author says that every word he says has a meaning and that he changed her life. I asked some people if they knew him and they said no. I thought" if no one knows about him, maybe he's not that good" . I had never been so wrong. You can hear the raw emotion in his voice. Emotions I never knew can be heard. Now all I think about is how clueless I'd be if I did not open that book on Wattpad.
