Love is where you find it? So accept anything that comes your way including same sex attraction as did Baldwin - no thanks.

Love is an action; not a feeling. Therefore we can be surprised when we find someone showing us love. It could be as simple as a random act of kindness. Sex does not equal love, but it can be a form of expressing love.

I observe ( without a final inference ) that many persons are conditioned by words and terms that they do not know the meaning of ; I mean literally examining the dictionary ( not Google search results ) , the thesaurus and whatever available documents there are i.e. RESEARCHING and analysing the source of the meaning of words and terms. These words and terms trigger mental 'responses', I dare say most times we are unaware of. The above statement IS profound... but it is not original. If one had to marry another person that you or any other person deems 'perfect' , then truly how does one cultivate patience, and yes humility, submission, trust, faith ; these tenets that say to another that indeed ..." I am loved " ? Careful now , with my next proffering.... it is written in the bible but regrettably the meaning of the words, church, religion, religiosity et al are understood erroneously by many and I mean the approximate 7.8bn persons rotating as we speak around the earth's axis. You may discover, for yourself that the great philosophers , the profound quips and quotes by great thinkers are nothing new nor unique under the sun. A theologian may pontificate but not necessarily yield or humble himself or herself to the self testing of the theories they profess.

" your'e dangerous; you have no way of learning humility. no way of learning that other people suffer" I think this is also that same for racism. Baldwin speaking is everything for me; i'm so grateful for him. Baldwin, Marsha P Johnson, Bayard Rustin and Fred Hampton , among others, are oracles. Like beyond, beyond transcendent..

James Gray Its value is multifaceted and, yes, subjective. You're probably referring to the centrality of heterosexual union in perpetuating a certain kind of social order, in extending family lineages. Maybe this is an order that you consider superior, necessary, or just natural. But there is the purpose of a thing, and then there is its value. Speaking as an atheist, it's always astonished me that people who can ostensibly recognize the origin of human sexuality in deterministic evolutionary processes still routinely fall into the trap of investing this particular function of sex with metaphysical or ethical significance. I'm talking about atheist homophobes of course. It's one of very few recourses they have. I have nothing to really say to those coming at it from a religious perspective. In short, sexuality can be used to bring people together, to strengthen bonds of love. Not just to create babies. And the former is not constrained by the participants' biological sex. Let's not make the fallacy of investing a thing as vicious and cruel and indifferent as nature with any kind of moral importance. Nature is a tool for the flourishing of man, I believe. Not vice versa. Where it can be overcome, via culture or technology, for the betterment of society or the individual, we should not get wrapped up in what I call ''moral superstition." 'Nature' is a mirage, it means nothing.

I am 47 years old. I have just recently, as of maybe 1 hear ago discovered who James Baldwin was. Every lecture I have heard of his since I feel like I’m either James Reincarnated or I have always understood we are all just humans. No I am not gay, but why does it matter if we can agree to enjoy the human experience on earth together, through love and not hate. I understood his very foundations as a child and l am at awe that there was a prominent speaker and writer who was before my time that thought the same way as I.

Humans are only capable of loving those they deem worthy of it.no one should tell anyone who or how they can love.but for someone to say that they love everyone is not only lying to themselves but will distort the meaning of it.its humanily impossible to love everyone unless the meaning of love is as simple as saying hello and we all know it's far more complicated than that.
