Ultimate Edition version: • James Bond Gunbarrels:...
That one certain UA logo (GoldenEye one) is in many of these SE discs. That is edited out mostly in here anyways. All other different instances of United Artists are left in (and all MGM's are, there's only 3 of those). These are taken from the PAL Region 2 and 2/4 Special Editions, Finnish releases though. Outside two, where I used the release without extras to get higher fidelity (see below for more info on that). Some have a new 5.1 mix and I also never was a huge fan of those, just give me whatever the original is - sure from GE onwards is 5.1 but that is fine as it always has been that. If the pitch seems odd, they haven't corrected it after speeding the movie with that one frame per second. TND and TWINE are the only ones I am aware of, since the Region 1 SE disc I have has a different pitch and the PS1 game also has that with TND and TWINE.
Mr. PSX comments:
I like these dirtier prints and their more visible film grain, which is the image itself and its details - also if you believe the Special Edition Collection trailer, these are the definitive versions (Ultimate I recall never says so, HA!)
Also the sound is the original mono in most of these older ones, and it blasts amazingly, especially the opening titles of OHMSS, I like, I like (if only it would be technically mono as well instead of being in a stereo container, that wastes half of the bitrate)
1962-1964 & 1973-1974 - man these non scope ones are all over the place with their aspect ratio depending on what is seen
FRWL had out of sync sound in its UA logo, kek
G has some framing issue clearly
Some of these releases have an image that's clearly too wide, like DAF, O and LTK
TMWTGG has blue hue, nice nice nice - also, the sound is in Stereo in that one
Love that MGM/UA Communications logo with TLD, I have a VHS of AVTAK where that one is
Too bad LTK SE is cut in general
GE SE has the correctly framed image and is in general cut dammit thanks to UK, but...
GE and TND seen here were taken from no extras -disc, both using the same SE master
TND SE my area has is uncut luckily
I have the Region 1 TND SE and boy are the bitrates worse there - PAL Region 2 variant has better ones
TWINE SE has that 75 year MGM logo sadly not used in UE and user player generated subtitles with JAMES BOND WILL RETURN but why? Why not the original film material? In UE that's not the case kek, film material it is there.
DAD SE uses the same MGM UE's use I reckon, left it in anyway
For SE master fans, there are discs at least in Region 2 (dunno aboot 1 or 4) with no extras that use the same SE elements, but in those more space is reserved for the movie so there's higher image and audio bitrates since they lack all the extra content. For the case of GE, it's the only way to have the uncut SE master'd GE since from what I can see, discs of those type my area has have gotten out in Finland/Germany/Netherlands -areas (GE of that type having English and German audio with Eng/Fin/Ger/Dut subtitling) while the regular SE with English audio only came out in many places and due to cuts some subtitles get out of sync there.
This better be in 16:9 by default kek.
