So, the reason he was slapping people was because Sean Connery made a comment that sometimes a woman needed to be slapped if she won't leave it alone after you gave her the last word (but NEVER with a closed fist). The line about casting a Bond who is actually English is funny because when Ian Fleming (the author of the James Bond books) saw Sean Connery (a Scot) play Bond (against Felming's wishes) Connery was so good Fleming retconned Bond to be half Scottish.

Apparently Sean stated that there was nothing "particularly wrong” when it came to physically harming women as long as no one did it the same way they would hit a man. Apparently, Sean thought it was acceptable if someone had been warned and a man had tried all other alternatives. The actor later stated he’d been misquoted. So he's pretty much referring to if the other party is being violent and honestly he's right.

Fun fact:1967, there is a comedy version of James Bond called Casino Royal. James Bond in the movie starred Peter Sellers who did the Pink Panther comedy movies. At the end, someone asked for James Bond and a lot of people popped up saying they are James. David Nevin, Ursula Andress, Woody Allen, and others were Bond in the film. When the original Bond showed up in this video actually attribute to the Casino Royal movie with David Nevin as the original James Bond while Peter Sellers as the clumsy James Bond. People need to check that movie out. One thing that EBR missed out which could have been a good bar for Austin is that You (DC Bond) was played by an actor who was a pink panther. That would have been a good burn.
