Just phenomenal singing...really incredible versatility as a performer in that he can cover all ends of the spectrum. What a talent. I also really like the musical arrangement and the tone of the bass that seemed to be pretty common in that timeframe. Funny that Mike Douglas was disappointed that there was no typical JB showmanship, but this is what I liked about this particular performance - we are able to appreciate the vocals on their own.

The Mike Douglas show brings back memories when I watch James Brown on his show.

It's always cool how James would look off into the distance thoughtfully when he sang ballads as if he was making up the song right there on stage. Very dramatic dude.

I was NEVER a fan of “World”. The song doesn’t pick up steam til part 2. Matter of fact, i think JB released “World, Part 2” as a single. I remember seein this on VH1 and HOPING he’d do a fast funk song. I was VERY happy to see this clip, but also disappointed when he didn’t do a fast number.

I wonder if Georgia is sung to a track, or if its Joe Harnell (Mike's band). If so, that might be Jimmy DeJulio on bass.. one of the best to ever touch the instrument.

I just realized he sang two versions of “Georgia On My Mind” on the same show about four months apart. When you’re James Brown, you can do that.
