Hugely encouraging. So grateful to those who have put these messages online in an accessible way. Have valued many of them but not commented. Returned to this one and was heartened to see growth in my own heart as I face more storms and a chance to be reminded of these wonderful truths in suffering. Thank you folks. Praise God!

James' teachings are helpful in admonishing those who delight in bearing false witness as though it is an entertainment [carrying and sharing, as if seen, a hurtful opinion which one has not seen ... often beginning with "We need to pray for ..." ] and shaming others by name; too common in the US these days.

On what basis do you claim that James was a half brother of Jesus as distinct from being a first cousin, given that in the New Testament times first cousins were also called brothers and sisters, and that they had no word for first cousins? And if Mary had all these sons and daughters why did Jesus have to entrust her future care to John? Is His doing so not utterly unthinkable and a breach of all their strong family traditions if Mary had all these other sons and daughters?

It’s good to ask questions (Pastor Paul even said that in one of his sermons, but I watch so many that I can’t remember which one), as long as you’re asking with a humble heart/open to learning God’s truth- that’s one of the ways we grow in our Christian walk.
