He is aware that his audience is mainly young teens and there is an obvious power imbalance when dating a fan. He is specifically targeting people who he knows will do anything for him and he has used that to his advantage. Whether it’s romantic, sexual, or platonic relationship all parties should be treated with the same level of respect. Forcing someone to do something they weren’t comfortable doing whether verbalized or not is never okay. He knew what he was doing and did it anyways. Don’t care how desperate you are or if anyone lied, he admitted that he did it to at least 1-2 people which is enough evidence for me. When I was 15 I went to a week long film camp. At the time I wasn’t aware of what was really happening to me until a year later. One of the group leaders who helped educate us on film would constantly hug me without consent and it got the point I felt uncomfortable leaving the dorm room. I kept telling myself he was just trying to be nice but even if that were true, a 50 year old man should know better than to hug a 15 year old girl who barely knows him. When film camp was done and my parents were there to pick me up I had left something behind and he kept calling me by a different girls name to get my attention. I knew he was trying to talk to me but I just felt so overwhelmed that I wanted to get out of the building as quick as possible. There were many times I felt like I should have said something but this man had a lot more control in that situation than I ever did and I think to a certain degree he took advantage of my naivety. This is just an example of what a power imbalance is like. Often times adults make up excuses that pin blame on the victim rather than take accountability themselves. James is old enough and has been on the internet long enough to know that he had the power in those conversations.

The thing I noticed right away was how he mischaracterized his interactions with these people as “5 minute conversations” and “flirting” and says things like “next time I have a conversation, I will do better” All of these phrases are used for the purpose of making people forget what he actually got caught doing… sending unsolicited nude photos of himself, and aggressively trying to push the people he was talking to into sending him explicit photos back, whether they wanted to or not. He used his celebrity to manipulate and push them, to threaten them, and then to berate them if they didn’t comply or if they talked about what happened. That is a HUGE manipulation in this video.

I’m just confused how "I’m in therapy" means anything. Some people are in therapy because they want to change their behaviour. Others because they believe it’s everyone else’s responsibility to improve their life, that a therapist will sort it out for them and support them in their belief that everyone else is to blame. There are narcissists who want to learn how to impact those around them in positive ways only. And there are victims who believe their trauma is the perfect justification for them to traumatise others. "I’m in therapy" doesn’t mean shit.

Exactly. It's sorta different but I was 'in therapy' a while ago for severe depression and anxiety but I didn't engage at all and I made no progress. Just because you're there doesn't mean it works, and it doesn't mean you improve. In the end, my therapy was only used to tell people I was there so they didn't have to worry, much like James is using his to ensure people he's going to change but I doubt he even believes he needs to, he's just trying to placate his audience

@@kylezacharysmith4643 I’m sure that when some people get a feel for such things, they tend to do it again, I was regarding to his actions and the same actions as Gabbie, Shane, Jeffree etc, they have done it over and over again and a lot of the times, it’s a difficult habit to get out of. Like biting fingers/nails, cracking knuckles, or in this lying/manipulating, it becomes a habit and some people go to an extent to which they don’t even realise they’re doing it. However, there ARE people who are able to let go of these habits and start over. The reason I wrote my comment, was regarding to people who get into drama over and over again, regardless how many times they’ve “apologised” or said they are gonna “change”, just to do somewhat the same thing again later on.

Let me remind you, James is incredibly smart. He said in an older video once that he did so well in high school that he probably could’ve gotten into any college he wanted to if he chose to apply for college. He also got an incredibly high SAT score and was probably in his classes top 5%. So I don’t think these manipulation tactics were accidental or unintentional. He is a very high calculated individual. If he was notoriously dumb or just generally sloppy then maybe you could give him the benefit of the doubt but he’s extremely smart. Also let’s not forget that his career literally started from a lie.
