In today's episode of Bad Book Club, I read Charli D'Amelio's terrible book so you don't have to. It's pretty much JoJo Siwa's book all over again; still unbelievably bad, just a different face on the cover. 10,000 comments and I make a video Dixie D'Amelio's music (and also try to make a song like hers).

As a 15 year old who’s planning to publish a psychological horror later this year, I apologise on behalf of teenagers whom believe dancing online for 60 seconds makes them a best selling author, as opposed to the majority of us who are actually trying to do something productive and original. Of course, if tiktok is something you want to do then so be it. Do it, who’s stopping you? But please don’t release music/books/make up unless you are passionate about it. Don’t use other people’s passions as a cash grab.

This is ridiculous. So many people have gained zealous fans, a crap ton of money, and huge fame just from social media presence stemming from very superficial reasons, and Charli is a perfect example. She has tons of fans who will support everything she does, and for what? For looking pretty and wiggling her arms? For spending money she already has tons of? To be clear, I don't mean to criticize her; I'm criticizing how all it takes is some luck, a public platform and a pretty face for someone to become hugely famous in our society. Really shows how superficial we are. Like any celebrity, she also has fans who simply enjoy her content, no shame there. But then there are fans who are super defensive of her and gush superlatives about her... Its not that Charli isn't nice or that she's a bad person. But the praise she receives for ordinary polite things is out of proportion. For example, there's a video where she buys someone a car. Tons of people were exclaiming on how sweet it was, and although that's definitely not an "ordinary polite thing," its not as much of a gesture from her given how much wealth she has, and it was for another influencer so it probably wasn't just for the sake of generosity. I know that's how the influencer biz works, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with her doing that, _but there is also nothing saintly about it!!!_ She isn't some kind of especially amazing person, so I resent that everyone fawns over her (and other figures like herself,) like so. Feel free to fact check me on any of this by the way, I don't have tiktok and I try not to get involved since I find it pretty pointless so I don't know much about it if I'm honest.

rich straight cis white girl dances and gets lots of attention. oh well i guess she should write a book and start an acting career, or release a heavily auto-tuned pop song, maybe she’ll become a politician or something, cuz she “works so hard”. no offense to charli, she’s just living her life, but geez, the advantages she has in life- WOAH I DID NOT EXPECT THIS MANY PEOPLE TO REPLY...I was just saying how while I think it’s great that Charli achieved her dreams and stuff, she didn’t necessarily work for it the way others do. She cherry picks the causes she wants to support and ignores the issues that her and her friends are actively contributing to, like normalized use of slurs and ignoring covid guidelines.
