A chic slice from long term label friend: Chicago born James Curd. Now based in Adelaide, James has had a rich and varied career that has been punctuated by a panoply of impressive achievements.
His gilded resume includes various contributions to Grand Theft Auto soundtracks, collaborations with Osunlade and work that has been remixed by dignitary such as Derrick Carter and Pepe Bradock and this just about scratches the surface...
Here - he throws a dart straight to the dance floor with a jazz-tinged House jam built from a classy palette of samples. Expressive Rhodes tones, billowing brass and striking vocals are all kept anchored by a marrow-deep bass groove that tumbles under the track throughout. Subtle sequencing has the track unfolding like a live performance as a brooding tone sets a tension that never quite boils over.
