That was one of the best tag team MMA fights ever.

And there was a whole lot more off camera that happened.

He’s a legend on and off the field! It was awesome having him in studio! I have always wanted to get him to react to this fight!

I can remember watching the 76 All Blacks vs Springbok tour in South Africa at the time. Stroppy Grant Batty in the thick of the punch ups shortly after kickoff and the blood flying and he said they were "introducing themselves" haha

His replacement had a good game in the final though.

Revisionist history. The Boks had been trying to intimidate Canada all game. The Canadians did not back down. Every handbag or niggle was returned with interest. That frustrated South Africa and led to the shoving match, some punches, and a few kicks. For the home team, and eventual World Cup winner, to behave that way was shameful and almost cost them the trophy. If the semi-final underwater match in Durban had been cancelled, and it damn near was, South Africa would have been done because of their poor disciplinary record. So Small and his team mates can scoff all they want now, but their history might have been very different.

I saw the live broadcast of the game. The Boks initially came out quite rough and tough, but showed a lot more respect when it became clear the Canadians wouldn't back down and if necessary would go as far as reds cards.
