Ironically, I was never a Branden Fraser fan when he was in his “prime” in the 1990’s - I didn’t think his acting was that great then. Now... I think he’s better than ever - and it started with this role. I remember watching this a few years back and commenting to myself how good he was in this. I’m glad he won an Oscar. Definitely well deserved.

Wow! That’s crazy to me bc this man was a staple in my house growing up. I bet it’s fun going back and watching his movies for the first time jealous😂.

There's a lot of talent in Hollywood that doesn't get to play in well written, well directed films. Too often, the money backing the film wants some insurance. That's why Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and a few others get so many roles. It's also why sequels are common.

He's more than just your average National treasure folks. He's got fans across the globe, I'm one in thousands here in Pakistan. Brandon is an amazing actor and a humble person and we are all wishing his happy new beginnings and great success. It's so good to finally have him back and I'm still waiting on another Mummy movie with him and Rachel - their chemistry was amazing. 🤞🏼

What a strange yet brilliant scene. There's really no easy way explaining how the rich behave the way they do.

Is the analogy that while the rich are concerned about having a good time they are oblivious to the poor making life and death decisions trying to stay alive
@atomosvrial17083 жыл бұрын
No i think its that the, natives were on their side 'same water going in and coming out' and his ranger friend was a "big fella" he could have pulled them up, but their lives simply didnt mean enough to him to do that and he felt no remorse, the rich just dont care because in their eyes we are less than them and they will drop us like dead weight and not feel the tiniest remorse.

@@atomosvrial1708 but then why mention the football game?
@atomosvrial17083 жыл бұрын
@@JasonXLV1 well in context, I think that the wealthy could have been paying attention to the war at the time, an important event affecting the lives of millions but it wasn't fun or interesting so it held no space in their minds (ironically sport is just a safe stand in for war, so those to weak or to important can get their fill of combat without dirtying their hands or being exposed to real danger.) The big game was far more important to them and they crowned players their heroes while the real heroes died for them in places they couldn't see, like rich Romans going to the coliseum in times of war and naming a slave they forced to fight for them 'king of the arena' or something, its the total disconnect for me sis.

Yeah you’re probably right but I have no idea what this has to do with rich people I mean everyone watches football

This show would've been cooler if Brendan Fraser was the star and was set in his point of view with his Nick Offerman like deadpan delivery.

Rich kids were able to avoid the draft during the Vietnam war (like the point of the song “fortunate son”), while many middle class and below kids were handed a rifle right out of high school and sent over to fight for their lives against the skilled Vietcong, these events were happening at the same time, the rich were having fun storming the field during an upset football game while regular kids the same age were stepping on water snakes and dodging bullets from every other bush in the jungle

@@flyinghills5245 there's also the lack of empathy. The two Vietnamese clinging to the helicopter were putting the sergeant in danger and he didn't have a second thought about sending them to their deaths to save his own life. I would think that means that you can "act like the rich" in any situation, even if you are just a poor farm boy drafted into the war. Human nature.

I preferred Brendan Fraser’s portrayal of Fletcher Chase, than Mark Wahlberg’s in All the money in the World.
@arcanondrum65435 ай бұрын
True but it was all in the writing. Wahlberg was reading a script that painted Chace as a "good guy". Getty was ruthlessly evil, good guys don't work for people like that, not even if they applied for the job.
