I was so happy to be asked to sing on this amazing song. Joe and I were friends in Kent history bands playing downtown late sixties.

Say what you want about the Eagles.......I'll take the JAMES GANG any day. I graduated high school in 1969 and heard the James Gang not long after that. These guys just flat out rocked and what can I say about Joe Walsh that hasn't already been said. He's one of the best.

***** And what the kids don't really believe is the tickets cost about 8 dollars. In 1968 I had tickets, I live in NY, for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin&Big Brother and the Holding Co., the Chambers Brothers and Soft Machine at a place called the Singer Bowl in Queens NY and the ticket was $7.50. A ticket today for a lineup like that would cost you 2 thousand dollars. It was a different time. More about the music and less about the money.

Lincoln Nebraska? Here's a bit more coincidence. In 1973 I was in college in a town called Yankton, in South Dakota. Yankton was on the Missouri River just over the bridge from Nebraska. I'm guessing it was an hour, maybe an hour and a half from Lincoln.

Hear ya loud...seen em at the Nassau Colusium in Long Island Back like in 1973...was with dr John "Gumbo"...Weird lineup but damn it was the gang dealt the cards that nite and won...Seen Zepplin there as well..cheap as shit....like 10- 15 bucks...still got the stub

Eagles hold the record for most albums ever sold with one of their greatest hits releases but they did it without my money....got nothing for them and never have. Poco maybe, James Gang definitely, but never the Eagles...even with Joe and Tim.

Man, I played this song on vinyl over and over and over again in my little stuffy dorm room at Doane College in Crete Nebraska in '73-'74 until it almost wore out the grooves. Still have the album stashed away. The orig. song on the album had Mary Sterpka singing the female solo....and it's arguably the best solo any chick ever did. She's been a veterinary tech back in Ohio ever since...prob. retired now. Claims she still has that voice! God Bless Joe Walsh and his crew. Who is this drummer.....love his work here.

@@marysterpkadelaney7310 Wow!! So cool of you to weigh-in, Mary. No.....we all THANK YOU for the mark you made on what so many of us consider possibly THE BEST piece of musical work that was ever done by Joe Walsh. It's also just plain cool to know that you're walking around and breathing Earth's air like the rest of us reading this. I know I don't need to call your attn. to how many of our loved ones and fellow rockers / peers are no longer with us. And sadly, that's just going to keep on happening. All the more reason for us to dust off that old turn-table that's been covered up in the basement and spin some of that wonderful vinyl that we also have stashed away......that we never had the heart to sell or give away. I call it dusting off wonderful old memories! Can I get a witness?? joel in tucson

I’m pretty sure that’s original members James ‘Jimmy’ Fox, guitarist Joe Walsh, and bassist Dale Peters, but the video is so blurry it’s hard to be 100%. I’d be surprised if it’s not the case, though. No complaints about the video, though, if that’s all that’s available. Thanks for uploading!

Yup. It’s James Fox. It’s easy to see in this other video from the same concert, despite the jerky camera work. There’s a closeup near the end. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fILMfamjnrWni9U

I got the album " B.B. King , L.A. Midnight " years ago in the cut out bin . It had B.B. , Jesse Ed Davis and Joe Walsh on guitar . Wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that one . Joe doesn't play a million notes , just the right ones. Long live Joe and the James Gang .

Such a wonderful song... Great open G tuning tune, much like Big Star's "Watch the Sunrise." Walsh is a MASTER of the Bigsby, no one else uses it so very elegantly. It's always been a large part of his wonderful rhythms and chords. Just listen to it "swim" on the open G in the outro.

Mary was in a band called the Raging Souls in 1967. When Joe Walsh left the Measles for the James Gang Mary & Bill Lohr left the Raging Souls to join the Measles and Bobby Sepulveda and eventually ending up singing with the James Gang on Midnight Man.

I saw JG 3x. Each with a different guitar player. Joe Walsh, Domenic Troijano (sp) and Tommy Bolin. Joe was by far the best. It wasnt so much his guitar playing because the other guys were good too, it was his style. That’s why he’s an Eagle Then I saw Barnstorm, little did I know I have 2 friends that played with him in that band. Then I saw him with The Eagles What was cool, 35 years ago I played at a Willie Nelson Picnic in Texas and the guys I played with went on right before Joe Walsh. I got to tell him what a lifelong musical influence his music was on me. What a priceless moment !

I drove up to my home area from VA to see James Gang reunion at Beacon. I was sooooooooo F'ing excited, that I started chasing Buds with tequila shots. I saw the first song and then joined the walking dead. Does anybody have the entire show? I'll pay a reasonable amount for a DVD.

+Love your spirit, Pete. I can tell you're a character just like I've always been. Sorry, but I can't help with a DVD.....southern Ariz. is a LONG way from the Beacon. Last time I was there was tail end of Allman Bros. in '14. Got some KILLER Beacon / Allman shirts to show for it....hanging in the closet right next to me. New York was cool. Couldn't live there, but all my old high school / football buds and I who made the trek (all of us early 6o yrs old or so then and full of life still) sure dug it all.
