About 6, 7 years ago, I was a journalist and was so unhappy with my job, I felt I was wasting my life, and I used to play this song so many times a day... I quit my job and started to follow my dream of being a tattoo artist... almost 6 years have passed... couldn't be happier, healthiest, I earn better, have time to workout, been tattoing in countries I did not even thought of going... this song used to inspire me a lot... now those hard times have become good memories

That's the thing with James.. there's just this air of optimism when you listen to them. A bit more and a bit more real. Something deeper and genuine. They have tuned into something that the rest of the world is losing.

Fantastic... I did the same, worked in construction for years, literally tears in my eyes travelling to work,I now own my own gym 2 minutes from my house and love my life. 👍

This song is the barometer for my mental health. If Im depressed it hurts too much to listen to it, when I'm on top it moves me in the deepest of ways. My eyes involuntary well when the strings begin

I've never heard someone else explain it before in this way but that is exactly how I feel with certain songs. I've about 5 songs I love but can't often bring myself to listen too. Thank you for verbalising this phenomenon :)

I suffer from bipolar & unlike popular opinion it's nothing like having a split personality. You go through periods of depression maybe sometimes for a month. Then I go through periods of being euphoric & energetic. I love to go to see live bands but if I've bought a ticket & the time comes to go & see the band & I'm in a low mood, I'll maybe drag myself to see the band, but I'll find it very hard to enjoy & usually leave early. Which is similar to what you're saying, you can't listen to certain songs at a certain time. I went to see James live in the summer just gone. They were fantastic. I've got tickets to see them next summer also. Hopefully I'm having a settled time then.

Why are James soo underrated? Their music fills you with joy and cheerfulness. Making meaningful and joyous music is extremely difficult like writing meaningful, joyous poetry or any other form of art. Our world is full of depression and those who fight against this monotony should be recognized and admired
@benzobrimzs5 жыл бұрын
I don't think they are.
@Fwibos3 жыл бұрын
Uh...clearly you haven't heard some of their early stuff. Lester Piggott is about suicide. They juxtapose happiness and despair in every one of their songs. Their most famous song is about mental illness. They are a good band. But they aren't about being happy.
@paulbradnick7863 жыл бұрын
They are only underrated to those who don't know...console yourself with the fact that you do.

@vasilikiioannasal62466 жыл бұрын
@kostas246956 жыл бұрын
@vasilikiioannasal62466 жыл бұрын

I left a Venezuela ruled by a single political party-military coalition in early 2017 and entered Europe with little less than 500$ in my account, and no one to run to. I started doing porter jobs very late at night when not cleaning touristic apartments in downtown Madrid, all under the table. What I made was essential to eat, and any other night had to sleep in the streets. 5 years have passed, and now I can afford my own place and have a decent full-time permanent job. It is all about temper and focusing even in the darkest moments. Big hug to everyone out there struggling to make whatever it is, you'll end up doing it.

I've lost count how many times i've seen James live. The one time that really sticks out is at the Heiniken free festival @ Hopwood Hall in Middleton. The whole festival sat down for 'Sit Down' which was followed by 'Sometimes' The rasping acoustic guitar intro ripped out of the sound system and everybody leapt into the air. It must have been around 1990/91 and they're as relevant right now as they were back then. Absolute TIMELESS CLASSICS..!

The word addiction shouldn't be thrown about so easily, you can't be addicted to a song.
