@thewatcher9500 A superhero film costing less than $200 mil with James Gunn and arguably the biggest comic book character of all time. Is highly unlikely. If you go back and look at what was spent on films like GOTG3 or The Marvels you'll understand a little better. The Batman didn't require a huge amount of CGI, lighting or locations so I can see why they were able to keep the budget down but also I believe that film was shot during the pandemic so take in account of inflation from 2021 til now. 250-300mil, I wouldn't be surprised.

It's obviously way lower. Gunn has always been known for coming in under budget because he always has his movies well planned out before shooting and doesn't need a bunch of reshoots.

I'm willing to bet that the budget for this movie is under $200 million. It sounds like Jame Gunn wrote an interesting plot so I expect a good story, but judging from the scenes of the trailer, he didn't spend excessively on the visuals. He cast good, young actors and non-elite veteran actors who he probably didn't pay large contracts to either. His marketing seems strategic and targeted so he's probably controlling that cost pretty well. I do think that contrary to popular belief that this movie can gross over a billion dollars at the box office b/c Marvel has been in a slump for a couple of years now; the DECU has been rebooted and under construction as the new DCU; and I don't think it will take too much to get people stirred up for this first installment. I think the true test will be maintaining that interests and that success of this new universe with their subsequent movies! A one hit wonder probably has better than a 50/50 chance, but keeping the DCU going strong for the next 10-12 years will be much harder to do!!!

If WB/DC Studio has proof that they didn't file that information with whatever department and that department released it to the public. Doesn't that mean WB / DC Studio can sue for whatever reason?

The problem is that the 'alleged' numbers you're reporting are in fact legally required to claim a tax credit in the State of Ohio - legally required. If Gunn is debunking the budget amount or claims to know nothing about costs, it would probably be safe to say that WB provided the legal information to the State of Ohio for tax purposes. Add in marketing/distribution costs and you're not far off from the truth. $1B break even?? If fans are believing that this will be the best Superman movie ever, then there really should be nothing to worry about.

After a 2 year break from the DCEU, the DCU has its theatrical debut with Superman next July. I'm glad we could get Frank Grillo at DC after his time in the MCU was finished. We're probably getting Creature Commandos Season 2 sometime in 2026, probably near when Clayface drops. Was there anyone other than James Gunn who could have delivered just as well with this franchise?

Gunn is one of the last few people in Hollywood that know how to make successful super hero projects so he was perfect for this. Jon Favreau and Ryan Coulger are the only other Hollywood creatives that I think could have pulled this off.

Cause even figie said gunn is a" living walking comic book encyclopedia, I don't know anyone who knows more about comics then him " Gunn has been reading comcis since he was a tike . I believe superman 25' will make atleast as much as guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 with 800mil worldwide gross from his existing fans (which tops the underperformed wokenda n ants during marvel's declining period).Imo,TSS shouldn't have been a part of the free HBO Max streaming contents but atleast WB saw it's potential by greenlighting its sequel peacemaker b4 TSS release.That was a major streaming success too ..DC,Marvel and Marvel Studios GOTG fans loves it! So he's already been proven successful in the DC department. Audiences are smart!! They know the director and what he did(while being popular among major studios too). NOT because he worked with marvel. If that's the case, gotg3 wouldve share the same fate as the wokenda and ants!
