In no way was Sgt Rock suppose to be DCs version of Captain America. Sgt Rock was part of silver age DC Comics having multiple genres of comics in addition to superheroes.Those other genres were war,westerns,science fiction,the supernatural,and even romance. They were mostly they're own thing.But on occasion,they crossed over with the superhero line when war characters such as Sgt Rock,the Unknown Soldier,and Enemy Ace,or western characters such as Jonah Hex,met Superman,Batman and others in the pages of crossover titles such as DC Comics Presents,The Brave and the Bold, or Justice League of America.
