I think it's to help with his MVP candidacy. A couple of years ago, he lost to Steph and they have pretty close stats. And one of the biggest reason Harden (many people won't admit to it) lost was bc of his image. Steph was this religious, man of god, good boy while harden was seen as party animal, and everything that kinda comes with dating a Kardashian. It's a smart PR move and Harden def deserves to be MVP this year

Mr. Brown Westbrook only makes assists for stats. He doesn't make smart assists to make his teamates to get a better shot. Look at last Season with the Rockets, they were terrible. James Harden was a ball hogg, and he was criticized for not being a team player. This year he took a step down from ball hogging, played unselfish, and made his teamates get good shots. That Is why the Rockets win. That is something Westbrook doesn't do. Russell Westbrook doesn't execute plays when the game is on the line, he ball hoggs. He just plays his butt off for stats. He is fun to watch, don't get me wrong. But James Harden is MVP, he executes plays when it matters, and he involves his teamates to win games, and he creates his own shot when is necessary.

To me he is kid of a pioneer. He created a unique style of play. Closest comparison is maybe Manu. But earlier in his Rockets career, I kind of thought he relied on drawing fouls too much. He was frustrating to watch. Pierce was too at one point. It's one of those things that you hate to watch if he's playing against your team but don't mind it if he's your guy. Like Kobe. I never minded him getting people in the air than jumping in to them cause he was my guy. Same with Fisher taking charges. I hated when Vlade did it but loved when Fish did.

Westbrook averaging triple double is great but it could also mean that OKC is just a crappy team and Westbrook has to do everything. Harden on the other hand has less triple double but he's helping his team win. Which is more important than personal feat.
