Who could possibly hate him? He tries to get fellow musicians sober, he tried to find Morgan Harrington then vowed to bring down her murderer after she was found. He donated his music to 3 boys murdered and 3 other boys wrongfully imprisoned for it in the Paradise Lost documentaries and he is a loving husband, and father of 3 chiildren.

Mama Said Mama, she has told me well Told me when i was young 'son, your life's an open book Don't close it 'fore its done' 'the brightest flame burns quickest' That's what i heard her say A son's heart owed to mother But i must find my way Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Let this heart be still Yeah, still Rebel, my new last name Wild blood in my veins Apron strings around my neck That mark that still remains Left home at an early age what i heard was wrong I never asked forgiveness But never said is done Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Let this heart be still Never i ask of you But never i gave But you gave me your emptiness i now take to my grave Never i ask of you But never i gave But you gave me your emptiness i now take to my grave So let this heart be still Mama, now i'm coming home I'm not all you wished to me A mother's love for her son Unspoken, help me be Yeah i took your love for granted Not a thing you said to me I need your arms to welcome me But, a cold stone's all i see Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Let this heart be still Let my heart go Mama, let my heart go Mmm ya(you) never let my heart go So let this heart be still Never i ask of you But never i gave But you gave me your emptiness i now take to my grave Never i ask of you But never i gave But you gave me your emptiness i now take to my grave Let this heart be still

James is an Everyman in that he eventually became mature enough that he was able to bleed these emotions that he bottled away for so long. Load is a tribute to his awakening and some of Metallica’s diehard fans were pi**ed. That fact that he did it anyway is a tribute to what a badass he is.
@Bradgilliswhammyman12 жыл бұрын
James does an incredible job with the vocal talent he has. It isn't as soaring and effortless as Geoff Tate or the great vocalists of rock history but it he makes it work with aplomb.

I remember hearing snippets of this song across the internet in the late 90's and thought it was the greatest live performance from James ever. Since I was in the States I couldn't get to see this on tv and was desperately scrounging the Internet to get the full performance. Sure enough on a Metallica fan page had the whole song as a quicktime file. I felt like I found the Holy Grail. I quickly made a tape by recording from my speakers and saved the file. I listened to that tape non stop. Probably drove my family crazy. When the tape broke I just make another one. I think a year or two later I got a new drive that burns CDs and kept that file for years. I also shared the file on Napster and Limewire because it was so amazing. This performance is still on my playlist when driving to work decades later.

But I dare anyone with half a heart to watch this and tell me the stripped down solo performance isn't a gut-wrenching experience. His mom died when he was a teenager. This is therapy put to music. IF ANYONE IS CURIOUS what's the message obstructing half the song, it's a historical reflection of times from the usual folk of Slavic countries! here's a translation: 2007: what i'd do with Tokio Hotel. See what happened? Long-haired fellas (metalheads) now play not long-haired music (not metal). After seeing it all, old school metalheads started changing their image. All ex-metalheads shave their hair - but Hetfield did it earlier. While after Tokio Hotel came to popularity Corey Taylor, Trent Reznor (Even Josh Homme shaved off some) cut off almost everything and poured ashes on their heads. They're just ashamed that TH (Tokio Hotel) bears resemblance to them. Please play James Hatfield - Mama Said. Thanks in advance.
