I lost my mom to breast cancer when I was only 15 years old. I'm 45 now, and still think of her everyday. This song struck a chord with me the 1st time I heard it, and still does today. I can relate to this song a lot. I feel for anyone that loses a parent at any age, but specially the young ones that lose them too early.

Imagine being James in this time, well into your 30s and already experienced being the lead in the biggest metal band of all time. He moved out at 16 and it's been a struggle the last 3 plus years to repair our relationship. I searched and searched for a song to dedicate to him that had some significance to our relationship for his 18th birthday. This one was sitting under my nose and it's from my favorite band too! This song has a strong message, it talks about a son who loses his mother early and needs to mature early, and that son is James Hetfield, something he needed to overcome and move on in life, a lot of Metallica fans call this album crap , unfortunately, there are few people who see much beyond music, Mama Said is a work of art that few musicians, even rock musicians, are able to produce such art and express the strong message it has, Metallica is more than a band from Heavy and Thrash Metal, it's the band of life!🙏🔥❤

Longest phone talks everyday. She was my best friend, amazing human being.A teacher, she would stay at school, unpaid for the extra hours, just to do theatre workshops and let kids express themselves through art.I miss her so much.I just wish I could have made her proud while she was on earth, that she could hear the album I'm recording. I just hope she is a better place and maybe in time I will be able to let go of all this pain.

I can't even sing along to this without the sadness wavering in my voice. I miss my mom, lung cancer from smoking those damn Marlboro red soft packs took her from us. Love your mother while she's still around. You usually only get one. Don't take her love for granted. You never know how much time you have. You're gonna miss them hugs and that love she had for you. Losing her hurts worse than any physical pain I've ever felt. Rips your heart right out of your chest and leaves a big hole you can't fill with anything. Only time helps heal that shit, but it never fully heals. That pain stays with you.

Mama, she has taught me well Told me when I was young Son, your life’s an open book Don’t close it ’fore it’s done The brightest flame burns quickest That’s what I heard her say A son’s heart’s owed to mother But I must find my way Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Or, let this heart be still “Rebel,” my new last name Wild blood in my veins Apron strings around my neck The mark that still remains I left home at an early age Of what I heard was wrong I never asked forgiveness But what is said is done Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Or let this heart be still Never I ask of you But never I gave But you gave me your emptiness I now take to my grave Never I ask of you But never I gave But you gave me your emptiness I now take to my grave So let this heart be still Mama, now I’m coming home I’m not all you wished of me A mother’s love for her son Unspoken, help me be I took your love for granted And all the things you said to me I need your arms to welcome me But a cold stone’s all I see Let my heart go Let your son grow Mama, let my heart go Or let this heart be still Let my heart go Mama, let my heart go You never let my heart go So let this heart be still Never I ask of you But never I gave But you gave me your emptiness I now take to my grave Never I ask of you But never I gave But you gave me your emptiness I now take to my grave So let this heart be still

@Matt Walker, She's in spirit and watches your life. You are loved. You can talk to her. The moment you say her name aloud, her spirit comes instantly to you. Love is the bond that keeps you together. I lost my father at 17 years, and my mom recently. You can ask your mom for help or for signs. If you want to know what she's feeling or thinking though unless you meditate, you'd need to contact a psychic Medium. Usually you can find them at a metaphysical bookstore or even online. There are some awesome ones. Blessings.

I agree completely. without songs like this metal wouldnt be its fullest potential because to me, metal IS a form of emotion. many metal heads im sure can agree with the fact that, anything fast, agressive, lyrically driven is more about the meaning and message then the entertainment of the song. this work is why I love metal, and music in general. It just goes to show who's in it for the message not the money. ya know? #musicislife

Human race will never advance? It has advanced in the past. There's evidence of that everywhere. Human race has advanced and keeps advancing. However what would keep human race from advancing is fear of change and the hatred of change that always accompanies fear. Nothing progresses without change. The hatred of change is an evil thing. Evil and illogical. Why hate on Metallica for changing? Sure, they're different now but different doesn't equal bad. Metallica's Load/Re-Load period was great. Ofc not everyone likes this kind of music but to diss and artist just because it's not for your taste is simply childish and ignorant.

Kain Nosgoth That's not a fact though. You can't take famous persons quotes as facts. For all we know WW4 will never happen. For all we know it will be fought with the same technology we currently have. Maybe with lasers or with technology we cannot even imagine right now. 100 years ago nobody could have imagined internet. You couldn't even explain it to them. The reason he said that was because nuclear warfare fantasy was a hot topic at the time. U.S.A had just nuked Japan. It only seemed like nuclear warfare is the next step in warmonger. Einstein was not a god. He was not all knowing and just like every other person his thoughts and opinions were affected by current events. He said it to make a point but if we look past that then his opinion on WW3 and WW4 are dated and irrelevant. Progress.
