Still have some of the most beautiful harmonised leads in music. I think it's awesome that they blurred the line of not just being pure thrashers their whole career. Even though that's what I love about the band, but they just have so much more depth while still being a kick ass metal band.

Kirk missed the last three notes, he started two frets above the one he was supposed to play (still a right note tho), he immediately realized and just kept going down the scale to avoid any cacophony, and last note casually happened to be the higher octave of the one James was playing, so it sounds most perfect than ever 🤣

I remember watching a video from some professional who mastered in music theory saying something similar. Something to the affect of, no matter how messed up a string of notes sounds, if it's played in a loop or at least repeated a couple times, people's brains will eventually adopt it as a beat in their head and consider it 'normal'. Definitely an interesting way to look at it.

I'd call it a "fortunate slip". You can mess up and it cuts through like nails on a chalkboard, but if you add unintentional notes that still works within the scale and key you'll get a way with it, especially in a harmonized section.
