Bought this record in the 50s ,me and my mam used to sing along with Max when he sung ,I was very upset when one hot day I was caught up in the traffic outside the ardwick Apollo and a man waved at me from within an open top sports car ,he asked me how to get on the motorway and I couldn't remember ,it was max bygraves and a lady who I think was his wife he had been appearing in Manchester ,I was dead sick that i didnt sing you need hands or tulips from Amsterdam to him ,,I would have done if he hadn't caught me unaware .we were stopped in traffic for a few moments at the roundabout there Thank you for putting this on I love the old songs sung by Max and the radio programme sing something simple ,also the black and white Minstrels

The era of having an - albeit cut down - orchestra in a TV studio was a good one. Session players are rules unto themselves. Last was a prolific arranger. On this segment featuring Max B we have to acknowledge the bass player for articulation.

Great little video, reminds me of being at home . I'd forgot how good these days were. Things move so fast now and this video is of a time that was much slower. It was by no means perfect back then but it seems a world away from the troubled times of today. This video opened a door in my mind that has been closed for a long time. Many thanks, I enjoyed it.
