Oh mate this give me the feels. So here's my story, English, born 72 I was brought up on a diet of James Last as mum n dad were huge fans from the 1960s. I have lovely memories of staying with my older brothers house in early 80s while they went off to Germany to see him, often bringing back exciting Germany biscuits and a toy !!! Anyway when I got older we went to London a few times to see him live, always on a "school night" and always he Royal Albert Hall , the excitement of going to London (from Kent) alone BUT then to be on my dad's shoulders as we danced the night away. Whilst checking out Hansi's angels (on strings) VERY evident here too !!! Mum n Dad are long gone now, but the memories are still strong, I still have the vinyl (upstairs Bluebird and Paintings my favourite) and though I love Gangsta Rap, Radio head and Paul Weller there is ALWAYS room for James Last in my life. Thank you Hansi, and thank you Mum n Dad.

Dealing with Covid these last couple years I'm glad I discovered videos like these that show people mixing and having a great time which just shows how Universal music is. I bought James Last Polydor LPs when I was 19/20 in the late 60's and although I love the 60's 70's rock music I have always liked the way James put his own style on the music.

James Last, won the best bassist award for several years in Germany. When he was conducting, you see he still has a passion for anything with strings. It's amazing, that he was so successful, in an area where the expenses were huge.

James Last was a Costco member and would shop at the Palm Beach Gardens store about once a week. Very friendly but hard to talk to his English was very limited. His wife Christen helped a lot. Miss him RIP Hansie
