@@ndorphin2564 Lol and he was about 90 here. And it wasn't his last book. Novacene was surprisingly hopeful, and of course looking at what is happening right now, very insightful. And so were his last few interviews. He just kept living! Healthy until almost the end. A truly remarkable life.

It's funny how he refers to JPL as something that is barely known. I run around it everyday; my school is right next to it! I realize that this wasn't a point of his lecture, but it's amazing to be a part of something that helped him reach brilliance!

Yep good old JPL, be sure to visit the yearly open house; mostly it's employees and their families, but anyone can go in. It's pretty neat. Interestingly, I believe it was called the jet propulsion laboratory in the 1930s because everyone was having a try at jets, but its real secret was it was working on rockets.

@wolfgang0070 hell he isnt! does he really strike u as a sad person? not at all! hes 90 years of age now, a passionate, independent scientist and enjoys walking 5 miles a day with his wife. this is what life can be about, real pleasure, intellectual challenge rather than plain consumption of goods of any kind.

One thought entering my mind is "What about life that uses sulfur compounds instead of oxygen compounds? A moon like Io might possibly have life on it, albeit different from our own life on Earth." 🌕 🌏

So his great invention was a super whiz-bang detector for a gas chromatograph. Like 1000X better than the old flame incident detector so many of us know and love.

sense just ozooses out of James Lovelock, many people will ignore what he says, that is expected, it sad but when a messenger of doom says that 7 out of 8 people will be wiped out, that takes, for too many people, a step too far to be beleived
