I ran across this vid after 2 yrs. The important part of this lyric is the black ice. I had a good friend who hauled his own merch between Sherman and Yoakum for his own business. He hit ice outside of Waco and about ended the whole thing. After that his health went bad and we buried him in Shiner, true story. Being from here, we all know people who live on the fringes struggle to take care of their own.

I think it's Double Dropped D. Take both E strings down to D. I don't have a 12 string so don't know what you do with the low E course, but assume they are both tuned down in unison to D.
