Yeah - so my guess is, Yousaf thought that the pro-independence parties would just be happy to unite behind whatever vision of Scotland the SNP have as long as it’s independent. That he could just scrap things that are important to the Green Party platform, like carbon targets and trans rights, and they would still back him if he was still pushing for independence. Woeful miscalculation on his part. If the Greens believed in everything the SNP believed in, they wouldn’t be greens they’d be SNP. Now he’s paying for that mistake.

Let’s be honest here. His ‘white’ speech was always going to come back to haunt him. It was made clear that he looks at the colour of people’s skin more than he looks at the ability to do the job. In that speech, he was obviously saying that he has a problem with white people holding high positions. In a country which is 95% white, how did no one in the SNP foresee that the Scottish public would not take to him before they elected him to be the leader?
