James Cleverly overtook Robert Jenrick to top the latest round of voting by MPs in the Tory leadership contest as Tom Tugendhat was knocked out of the race.
James O'Brien notes the ‘tragedy and contradiction’ of the Tories’ ‘comical incompetence’ doing wonders for his career, as the party’s leadership race approaches the final stretch.
James also gives his review of the remaining leadership candidates and considers who will be the best for Britain.
Rishi Sunak's successor will be appointed on Saturday November 2.

All the remaining candidates leave a lot to be desired. Im just concerned that the Tories have sunk so low in capability......it will leave a huge opposition chasm, that Farage will grab, backed up by the right wing press.

It's easy to be dismayed at such a thought, but it seems to me that Farridge is already out of his depth as an MP and he knows it. He'll never dare get too close to any situation that threatens to give him an opportunity to show what he is actually capable of as a politician and expose his inability to deliver anything he promises. He'll run a mile and at some stage, he'll scarper and all his fans will realise just how he embodies the diametric opposite of a patriot.
