I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand more times. The James R. Barker has one of the best Maritime whistles I've ever heard. The Two horns together sound a D# Major Power Chord with a resultant harmonic Major third. Such a beautiful chord.

Andrea, I just saw your video and loved the salute from the James R. Barker. I've witnessed the Barker entering the Canal and harbor in Duluth and when those horns sing, they do send a chill down the spine and goose bumps to appear. Now I live in Ohio so no big boats and it's live cameras or videos. I could sit by the hour and watch those lake freighters clear the locks at the Soo. My wife thinks I'm missing a screw or two. How long does it take for a freighter to clear the locks?

Approximately an hour... 20 minutes to enter, another 20 to either be raised or lowered once they are in the chamber and another 20 minutes to exit
