I just came across this "The Center for Fiction" article of wonderful author I have read and followed for more than 10 years. I first met him briefly in the mountains of Colorado where he lived and I was there skiing. I recognize him in a medical area and introduced myself. I was introduced first to a couple of his works and became so excited I eventually read all of his personal history and everyone of his works. I have also recorded all his books and a few of the Kindle recordings. I continue to recommend all his writing in a variety of functions.

I only learned of James Salter from his obituary, but the things that were said about him and his writing were fascinating. I , at once , googled him and my fascination increased . I bought all the books of his that I could find in bookstores . Then I went to the library to search more. The library is my default source of books , but one was not close at hand. One of the more sadder things about his passing is that now there is no possibility of ever meeting him. His answers during the interview are so truthful and frank , lacking any pretense , that he embodies honesty. But , I take a cue from Salter , knowing that his words live on and will always be there waiting to be discovered.
