When I look thru the big Smeaton book it’s timber frame trusses in tension, and load bearing masonry in compression. Those are the structural roots off all his buildings. All well and good but he certainly didn’t originate or improve these methods. He simply cataloged.

Cataloged, studied the properties for sure but these are properties of cutting wood joinery, setting stones, what can be accomplished with simple machine power…. Again nothing remarkable…. Brunelesci did the same…

These are deeply practices of compagnon labor and Zimmerman practicing guilds. There is no difference from medieval to early modern, its load bearing masonry in compression, or beams in tension. And he wrote down all the pozzolans so he knew damn well Roman concrete wasn’t Roman or never lost

You open by talking about laborers in craft yet you speak not like one. Why do these people feel the desire to discuss our culture of building? I hate them all
