James Taylor was my first concert, when the album Mud, Slide, Slim came out at The Hollywood Bowl. Myself & 5 friends, we were in 8th grade. What a first concert! My parents dropped us off, & it was just freaking amazing!! Too cool.

A little trivia- James went to England to try and make something of his music- he landed right in the midst of London with non other than the Fab four. His first single, "Something in the Way She Moves", was recorded in the famous Abbey Road Studios-Where George and Paul were blown away. In fact George Harrison's version of "Something" is a spin-of of James original song. The rest is history.

@@tatianaroveda JT was given the telephone number of Peter Asher who lived in London by JT's close friend from his teenage years guitarist Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar. Kortchmar played with JT from his early years, was a founding member of The Original Flying Machine and was an integral part of JT's music for decades. Asher was the Peter of the famous British duo Peter and Gordon. When Peter and Gordon came to the US the concert promoter would hire a local band to back them up. Kortchmar's band the King Bees was that band. Kortchmar and Asher became close friends (still to this day) Kortchmar gave JT Asher's telephone number in London for JT to play his demo/music. Asher was R&D director for the newly founded record label Apple Records owned by the Beetles. Paul McCartney at that time was dating Ashers' model/actor sister. JT played his music for Asher then Asher got him in front of a couple Beetles who OK'd the signing of JT to Apple Records. A few Beetles even played on his Apple record titled James Taylor. When Apple Records was breaking up Asher and JT came back to the states reuniting with Kortchmar and Carole King who was also introduced by Kortchmar to JT. That is how the Kortchmar to Taylor to Asher to Apple Records to music greatness was made. BTW Carole King was JT's first piano player when he started to roll in the US. Kootch was on guitar, Leland Sklar on bass Russ Kunkel on drums and Carole King on piano. King was later replaced by Craig Doerge when Carole went out on her own (Kortchmar, Sklar and Kunkel also played with King)
