James - Top Of The World (orchestral workshop)

In preparation for the Oct 2011 orchestral tour, James and arranger/conductor Joe Duddell enlisted the help of the Manchester Consort to try out some of the initial arrangements. The footage here is from an early run through in July 2010 at the Powell Theatre, Salford University, in front of a small group of family and friends. Enjoy.

Really wish they would have released one of these gigs on CD/DVD. Was front row in the Glasgow gig and it was incredible. Such a unique experience and sad to see it only live on in memory (and this limited clip!).

I see this man and his incredible band play this amazing tune at Wembley arena when I was about 17 around 97ish and he was floating across the crowd in a gold glitter suit... powerful song and beautifully sung... surprising because my memory is crap but I won’t forget that

Was at the same show, except I think it was Wembley Arena Dec 1998. I remember coming out of the Arena in a state of total euphoria. PS the comprehensive gigograhy at oneofthethree.com lists no show at Wembley Arena in 1997 and no shows anywhere in the world in 1996.
