Jimmy was one of the all time greatest guitarists. His legacy deserves way more credit and coverage. El Dorado is an amazing album. I’ve listened to it regularly since the day it came out. It makes me sad to know there won’t be a follow up. It makes me even sadder to know he’s gone.

James Wilsey is to Chris Isaak what Scotty Moore was to Elvis. The success of both Chris and Elvis' early recordings were in no small part due to their amazingly inventive guitar players. Listen to all of Elvis & Scotty's Sun recordings and early RCA stuff...nothing short of amazing! And Chris and Jimmy's Silvertone stuff..."You Owe Me Some Kind of Love", "Blue Hotel", "Somebody's Cryin'"...all the way up to "Wicked Game". And James Wilsey's solo stuff is still so inventive and cool...El Dorado!

RIP Jimmy! All time great guitarist! I'll never forget seeing him live the 1st time. The Roxy in Hollywood late 80s. The sound coming out of Jimmy's amp was AMAZING! I was hooked from the first note! Saw him with Silvertone at the Palomino in North Hollywood 1990. Thank you Jimmy for all the great music! Rest in Peace! You'll always be with us!

Hi Lakeshore! This is a longshot, but here it fucking goes, would you folks consider re-issuing/repressing this album? Either on CD or Vinyl or both? I understand this might be difficult with rights or maybe financial issues with Wilsey’s estate, but I would really like to see this album back in print. It’s very expensive and hard to come by. It’s really a beautiful instrumental album and I want more people to have it.

Without Wilsey's early guitar work for Isaac, especially on Wicked Game, Isaac would not be even remotely as successful as he is today. Isaac owes 90% of his success to Wilsey's guitar work.

I'm confused on how he records, he says he originally USED to record direct into the computer... so basically he uses the pod as the digital amp and then loops it back to the little labs box and that goes to his amp, then he uses the firestudio to record his amp with a mic? So he's using the software to get his tone, the fender to project it, and then mics it?

Some time ago I read that Jimmy Page sometimes recorded his clean guitar directly on multitrack and then, in the mixing process, he put the effects of that track and the amplifier that he wanted, all this was re-recorded with mics into the multitrack.

In the end... Hepatitis C. Drugs didn't help, but when you end up homeless, and off your meds needed life long after a transplant, nothing good happens. Health care and homelessness in America, I guess is part of what killed him.

A lot of people are going to say a lot of things. The truth is that, from all I’ve seen and heard, the man was just down on his luck. He wasn’t doing so well in his life, he had some things happen, ended up in a bad position and I think it ultimately lead to his demise. I know it’s not the technical answer but I think it’s the metaphysical answer. The sad part is that it literally could’ve happened to anyone. People like to think that they have perfect control over their lives and they like to think they’re above it, but anyone of us can end up homeless and in bad shape in the blink of an eye.
