You have to scrape the top layer off the elf highlight/blush product because they put like a cleaning wax on the top to keep the product clean if someone touches it. So when you get it you’re supposed to scrape the top layer off.

This was never my struggle because when I was still in high school and college I built my makeup collection gradually. I never went and bought $50 or $100 of makeup at once. I prob bought my first foundation all by itself (it was Revlon colorstay) and I used to think that was an expensive foundation so I waited for BOGO sales LOL.

Makeup does expire and separate etc so ya can’t buy piece by piece and expect it to keep and last ya. Mascara and eye products should be switched out every few months especially. So ya kinda do need to buy a full face at once which ya can do for $50 by brands like elf, nyx, wet n wild, catrice, essence etc and many of those brands have more hits now than misses. Drug store has stepped up a lot even cheaper drug store brands like those are waaaaay better than a lot of L’Oréal or maybeline.

Baby, you could’ve stuck to elf and got almost EVERYTHING you needed for cheap, and the products are pretty damn good- brow gel (5) and powder, intense black liquid felt tip liner (3), full shadow palettes (10), etc. Next time tho!

Was I the only person that kept thinking e.l.f. is a great option for people on a budget. When I started playing with makeup I only used elf and some of it is better than expensive makeup

The essence volume stylist mascara and their superfine eyeliner pen would've been cheaper alternatives that work better as well as the L'Oréal lash paradise. For anyone looking for other cheap alternatives, the wet n wild photo focus foundation and their color icon palette in rosé in the air(super for the modern renaissance) are both $4.99 each. James definitely managed to create a full glam look using the products he did though.
