One of my favorite melodic tunes. Thanks! Lots of great music wrapped up in that career. Saw him solo outdoors years ago in a crowd of less than a hundred and had to send the big bro (owner of all the Traffic albums I grew up listening to years ago) a note of wow. Thanks so much for this Missuh James James!! The fingers on my left hand have been left unreliable by multiple brain injuries. Sometimes I can get 3 fingers to work proper on a small fretboard like my mandolin. But on the guitar, only two usually. An unconventional tutoring method but a very effective one none the less. Good job and thanks SO MUCH for you’re unique lesson. All these years I’ve been playing it wrong with standard tuning which is why I could never get that chorus/reverb almost twelve string affect.

I played this at a talent search when I was a teenager and came in 2nd. Played it in standard tuning, and if I would have played it in open E, I guarantee I would have won. That was 30 + years ago, and I didn't know any better.

It's actually Jim Krueger's tune. Dave recorded it with his touring guitar player. Jim also recorded it on an album called Sweet Salvation.

When you mentioned that song was from a studio show that was actually Bob and Tom’s morning radio show. I’ve seen it on KZbin. You gotta check it out and his guitar is a 12 string in its tune just like yours only has a 12 string and the other musician has a six string.

It’s a 1997, still in perfect shape. The nut is a tad narrow for my hands, but it plays so well and sounds so good, I don’t mind so much. I don’t fingerpick with it because of the narrowness, but as a strummer, it’s fantastic.

@@steveallen4109 Mine's a 1997 -- I forget the number, but it's in the 230s, I think. I don't know if the Custom Shop made the Dove in Flight model after that year, as they eventually switched to the Doves in Flight that had a lot more bling to it (too much, in my opinion).

I don't know if he played violin, but he was a pretty accomplished guitarist before the fire. Had to learn all over again.

I’ve read a couple books about him; his whole family were natural musicians I guess... he played violin, guitar-banjo... Probably could have played anything and mastered it! But a true inspiration for people who feel they are limited by their physical limitations... I see you are healing up yourself. Good luck and make sure you get all the great nutrition you can.
