Thanks for your review, I didn't know about the tip option before seeing your video, I think its a great option for me especially as I purely want it to make drawing on my iPad a bit nicer. Its just a hobby for me so I even with the rubbishcurrancy conversation AUD, those 5 tips are going to lasts very long time. Also compare that price to the paperlike pencil grip, that bit of rubber or silicone costs $60 USD for x2 plus shipping, now that's a rip-off, €18 for x5 is nothing compared with that. I very much want to improve my drawing, so will be subscribing to your channel, cheers from Australia.😋 I do agree that a sharper pointed tip would be an improvement, assuming it doesn't wear down significantly faster.

I've ordered the Artist Clssic set, $71 + $10 delivery AUD, pretty good I think considering that's for a 5x pack of tips, 1x pencil grip and 1x drawing glove. Compare that with the paperlike pencil grip that costs $60 USD so probably $80 AUD plus delivery for 2x.

Thanks for this! I found that I really needed a matt screen protector to deal with the slippery quality of the iPad but I do get annoyed at the loss of visual quality AND how it makes the touch experience worse (meaning, when using my fingers, I have to push harder than I otherwise would). Here's a silly question: WHY DOESN'T APPLE JUST SELL AN ALTERNATE TIP FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT SOME RESISTANCE??? It could be rubber or felt or whatever and one could simply screw it on in place of the standard tip (rather than on top of it thus making it blunter). Seriously, Apple spends so much time and energy marketing the iPad to artists yet they won't provide this simple solution which Microsoft has been doing for years with their Surface Pens. Do they WANT people to cover up a great screen with a textured protector that washes out the colors?

I prefer the screen protector for 2 separate reasons. Yes, you do have more control vs just glass, but also I find it manages fingerprints much better than without. I use the paper like 2. I tried inexpensive matte screen protectors but it felt like drawing on gravel. The paper like 2 uses a different type of method of making the texture that doesn’t distort the screen much. I like that it also diffuses light a bit (not as much as a standard one) to cut glare. It feels a bit like sketching on standard note paper. I haven’t noticed much wear on my pencil nib, but realize that the screen cover is a disposable art supply and will wear out. The screen even takes on the look of a paper book. It’s odd to say but sometimes I forget it’s an iPad. I’ve shown it to people who aren’t iPad users and they think it’s paper at first. (Sitting on a table)

I am using a matte screen protector (because I like the texture and I want the anti glare function to protect my eyes) but combined that with the apple pencil (no rubber cover) I realised that the matte screen wears down the tip at a quick rate and I wish I had watched your video before this happened. So, I got myself the cheap rubber cover and yes, when used with matte it feels really draggy, I don't think I have the patience for my art process with this amount of resistance. At this point my priorities are protecting my ipad screen and reducing the wear and tear rate of the apple pencil tip, so I'm thinking about trying out the tempered glass screen protector. You didn’t need to spend £700-£1000 to draw. You could of just bought some paper and a pencil set for probably £10 quid.😂😂😂 That’s what apple have done to you all. You buy an electronic device then have to get additional accessories likepaper like to simulate drawing on paper. News flash, real paper still exists and it’s dirt cheap. This isn’t Star Trek where you can’t get good old fashion paper and lead pencils anymore. A real artist will know nothing compares to real paints and a good canvas. This is a gimmick, nothing more. A novelty not a substitute for the real thing. Try turning in some artwork to your teacher, made from the iPad and see how that turns out😂😂😂😂 Apple are taking the piss with so many of you, like with their new £600 dollar leather over the ear head phones😂😂😂. Any audiophile will tell you than sound fidelity can only go so far. Think they pretty much hit that wall with beats, Bose and tech from the other leading brands and they are all cheaper than £600 dollars. I own a iPad Air 4 and if in a moment of madness I got a 2nd gen pencil I wouldn’t be pretentious or even believe I’m creating true art, I’d acknowledge it for what is, a novelty party toy to use when your fucking board!

Thanks for the great review. Did you say that you scratch your screen using just the pencil ? I tried to read about this but every where I look they say it is impossible to scratch the glass unless there is dirt on the pencil. What is your experience with this ? I do like to draw on the glass so I don't need the Paperlike screen protector. But I want to protect my brand new iPad Pro. I have to say I did draw on my iPad Air but no scratches there. Thanks in advance. Greetings from The Netherlands.

I just discovered that Apple is selling its Pencil tip replacement on Amazon. Crazy but they are the original tips and they are 4 for $25 wrich to my mind is worth it as I am sure they last much longer. Apple is selling other accessories on Amazon also. I ordered a cable extension and it came in the Apple box.

I saw that but also saw some reviews saying they don’t last as long as the ones directly from apple. Some say they’re not really from apple. I mean, it does say it’s coming from apple. Who knows.

How do so many people think this video is about replacing the tip? This is only to get a less slick feel when drawing or writing. It’s got nothing to do with replacing or preserving the OG tip
@razrv3lc3 жыл бұрын
@@cured_bacon647 this would absolutely preserve the OG tip though.

My pencil stop working after I put matte screen protector. My iPad is brand new as well as my pencil. I need help to troubleshoot this. Maybe this is an an alternative is to use the nib instead of screen protector.

@@tomi832 i bought a leather tip for the apple pencil off Etsy from someone who has taken the initiative to handmake them. Took a few days to arrive. I am getting a new Ipad Pro and didnt want a screen protector or Paperlike because i also want to watch Netflix etc on the screen in its full glory. I am so pleased with the leather nib sleeves. They fit the apple pencil tip neatly and my writing is so much better. I am sooooooo happy. I dont know how long they will last but I think I have found the solution I need to write on the iPad screen without having a screen protector.

Hi James, I need your advice: I bought a Belkin screen protector and I feel like if my pen slips every time I try to draw straight lines or when it comes to draw faces, my lines have little lumps...and I see this as a solution to my problem ... would you recommend it to me? Thank you **Update 28/03/2021 I finally ordered my pen tips and, using them with my ipad pro with a screen protector I wasn't able to get that improvement that I was looking for. My apple pencil slid when I drew several straight lines on the screen. In the end, I had to return them and I'm waiting for my refund. Hope you find this info useful!

I have a 9th gen iPad and don’t know what pencil to use. Is there a universal one? I bought the paper feel screen protector too, and it wears down my nib quickly, so what’s the point in that? :/ if I knew I had to keep buying nibs, I wouldn’t have bothered get an iPad tbh.
@JamesJulier-Artist2 жыл бұрын
I use paperlike and honestly it doesn’t really wear down the nib that quick. The official Apple Pencil nibs last a lot longer than cheaper replacements too

Any recommendations on screen protectors? I got a new iPad Air and Apple Pencil a few days ago and I'm nervous about damaging the glass with the pencil ... i know officially it doesn't, but as you mentioned, you have lots of fine scratches in it...

Finally I realize why so many people have difficulties with the slipperiness of the apple pencil on the iPad: They were used to another pencil on a different drawing surface. I don’t know any better when drawing, because I only started playing around with lines and colours when I got my iPad. Writing now, that is a different matter entirely, because I use fountain pens on an almost daily basis.

Omg hey there fellow fp-user! I use a pilot capless for work everyday and learning to write and keep a good posture has been the challenge so far with the Apple Pencil on iPad. Not to mention the pencil is a tad thinner than I prefer for a writing utensil thickness…
