I eat at and review Mishiguene in the Palermo area of Buenos Aires. The fine dining restaurant serves modern and unique spins on Jewish immigrant cuisine. Since opening, Mishiguene has received numerous accolades and is ranked as the 15th best restaurant in Latin America according to The World’s 50 Best list. I consume their six-course tasting menu for dinner.

I really loved this! The whole eggplant for the baba ganoush was awesome! The pastrami looks excellent, and you always have to end the night with espresso. But... What a great price!

Yeah, it was tremendous value! I love fine dining tasting menus, but it seems like they hardly ever fill me up, but I was pretty full after that dinner!

'Mishiguene', the name of the restaurant, seems to be the Yiddish word for 'crazy'. ref.: 'Meshuga: Borrowed from Hebrew, meshuga (mi-SHOO-gah) means “crazy” in Yiddish. It can also be pronounced meshigeh, meshugeh or even meshugie.'

That's a great point! Unfortunately, I can be a sloppy eater at times and with food that good I didn't want to risk it falling on the table, so I moved in a bit closer to take my bites.

Yeah, I didn't expect that much food too! Usually when it comes to fine dining restaurant tasting menus I'm often still left with room in my stomach. So I was really happy with how much food I actually got.

That's what I think that it probably was, but I wasn't positive, so I didn't want to say anything that could be wrong since I also knew that in the past that ice cream was a Turkish coffee ice cream. They do change components on their desserts pretty often.

James, you get around my friend. I love the name of the restaurant. Being old and set in my ways food wise, I have to say, everything looked great. That said, I couldn't eat that tasting menu. Eggplant and sweetbreads are a 100% no go for this old timer. The textures are a turn off for me. For a guy who loves to cook , who's also taken many classes from some of the top chefs in our area, I'm not brave at all when it comes to what I'll try. It is great to see a tasting menu with such nice portions too. Cheers.

I’ve eaten at Mishiguene (you should probably at least learn how to pronounce the name of the restaurant properly if you’re going to review it) a number of times. It’s good, but far, far from the a top 15 restaurant in Latin America when you compare to many of the restaurants in Mexico, Peru, and Brazil. They haven’t changed the tasting menu much at all in the last few years so it’s already getting stale, but if you can get a big enough group the chef’s table could be a fun experience.

It's hard to tell sometimes since I can only speak about my experience, but thankfully, it was a great experience!
