I tried these when they first came out, thinking they would be my next iron set. I ended up deciding on the D7 Forged which were new but sold for used. They felt even softer to me and gave better numbers for me. The D9 Forged and the Mizuno 921 Forged were second best for me. The best numbers to attest to how good they are is that my handicap has gone from a 7 to a 2.8 and I scored my lowest score ever 68.

D7’s for me as well, had arranged a fitting with the pro I’m getting lessons with and a member came in that afternoon to trade the D7’s in for some staff CB Wilson’s. Clubs were immaculate so a 35% saving for me with the lie angle tweaked , love them. Have bought the 3,4 iron as well which was a mistake as 3H replaces those but trying to force myself to use the irons more as less roll than the 3H

They are amazing! The best iron I have ever played! Love love love my D9 forged! Great mix of feel and distance! I wasn’t sure about the power holes but when you hit them low on the face you don’t lose much distance.

Many years ago, I had a set of Deep Red Fat Shaft Woods, Driver, 3 wood & 5 wood. I remember going on holiday to Thailand and went to Laem Chebang with Pattaya Sports Club, I was out with 3 others, 1 of which was a 2 handicap golfer. When my caddy took the head cover off the driver to hand to me, she immediately started looking at herself in the reflective head, such was it’s shininess! The 2 handicap guy said, “what’s that”? “Wilson deep red” I replied. “Hmm, Wilson make good tennis rackets” he says. He wasn’t so cheeky after I hit it 20 yrds past him! Wilson also make very good golf clubs, ask Padraig.

I'm in T100/T100S combos. The WS Staff CB came out right after them or I likely would've ended up with those. Srixon seems to be getting some of its due lately, so I think Wilson is now the most underrated iron makers going.

Do you remember what shaft was in these when you tested them? I've had DG S and X flex, but also quite like $-taper 120s. Just a bit concerned that the stock shafts won't let me 'lean' on a shot without balooning. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers.

You're striking these much better than the Takomo 101Ts that you tested the other day. Are these irons that much better? Or were you swinging that day so badly that the Golf Mates would take your lunch money?

I play these. They are brilliant clubs. I tested T200/JPX/Rogue ST and Ping i525s. The forged head feels so good. And the forgiveness is right up there. Wilson really are back making some great clubs. Also using their Triad balls instead of chrome soft. Weirdly not losing so many!

Hi James, great job as always. I had the D7's and had an issue with rust. I have seen 3 sets of D7's that had rust. I also read on Wilson's site reviews that the CB's have rust. These and the Takomo's are on my short list. I am concerned about rust.

My new D9 Forged are due to arrive on Monday. Long 6+ week wait for them. I tried everything in this category and came down to Mizuno Pro 225, Cobra Forged Tec (2021 version), and the Wilson D9 Forged. They feel as soft or softer than the Mizuno, better dispersion than anything else, as long or longer than the others and they look great! I'm 72 and ordered them with Recoil ESX 460 R shafts. After Sophie Walker did her review awhile back, I was sure they would work for my swing speed, and they did! Anyone looking in this category of iron should do themselves a favor and try them, you won't be disappointed.

I went with the Ping i525 5-AW I hit them the most consistent also Ping Glide 4.0 56 and 60 I currently have the ping G425 max driver and the Ping 425 4 hybrid Im building a all ping bag besides my Scotty Cameron Newport Select 😉

Wish I could say good words, but I'm still waiting for my irons. Pre-ordered back in February with an April release date, mid-June and I'm still waiting. They continue promising, but no dice so far. If I could find a set of new D7 forged, I'd probably just buy them instead. I'll continue using my D7 cavity backs until I get my order. Unless James wants to ship that set to me??? Just saying.... Keep the great reviews of golf gear and lessons coming!

I agree that forged feel better, but did seem they may be a bit too close Mizuno's catch phrase. But it makes us wonder if tech is catching up to a point that there is not much of a difference from the Japanese forged irons? Not looking to move from them any time soon though...

I tried these yesterday and have to say they felt awesome. The entry price is also great, but where some grips and shafts like Nippon Modus pro are without a premium upgrade for some brands, wilson asks a premium price for those.

They look nice, its unfortunate that Wilson doesn't promote their products more. Wilson seems to be overlooked by many. I personally would prefer the Takomo irons.

I just got a set just because of all the good reviews on every KZbin channel, I usually shoot between 85-95 and I find these fairly hard to hit and have lost distance over my ltdx irons, I am playing my first game with them tomorrow morning, not really looking forward to it. My conclusion is Wilson wanted to shift these clubs towards the end of the season and have just sent them out to everyone on the promise for a good review, whether is genuine or not.

They do look as good as any other forged club out there. Sound and feel are a big deal to me. Can't get feel from a video but they sound good on video/audio. Wilson always come in under the "big boys" price too and they make a comparable product

i have a wilson d300 driver. it's literally the same performance as the ping 435 driver for me (95mph ss) and my mate (100mph ss). my mate owns the ping, we swtich up on the range all the time but nothing changes on the launch monitor. same everything. i hit my d300 straight as an arrow. even with a really bad miss hit on the face its forgiveness is right up there. it's an unreal club. evne another mate (5hc) said its a good driver dont change it. and hes a bit of a brand snob.
