I think what learners find hard is being really consistent with the safety routines. I think it's really hard in the UK because of the sheer volume of traffic - there is never a "quiet" time to drive. It takes a lot of concentration to drive well. But hey, we all get there in the end, right? :)

Hi there.That's a really nice relaxed drivig style. I think the way you check centre mirror then side mirror early and not in a rushed manner is a great tip. I find myself often waiting until a little bit closer to the junction and then kind of rushing my mirror checks, which makes no sense because at that stage I should be concentrating on changing down gears and my observations to the front and what's coming in the roundabout, not mirrors. I know it's good to look again and keep an eye out, but I like how you get the essential mirror checks done quite early and calmly.

I so wished you covered bolton, I'm having a nightmare finding a decent instructor, I'm terrified of my second lesson with new instructor because he is let's say very friendly ( not in a good way ) took me home jumped a red light speeding. So dreading the next lesson I really need to find the perfect instructor but everyone is fully booked and got a test booked for October 😪 I'm still using partners car but he works longer hours then me. I'm getting so down about it all. 😪

Failed my test on Friday with 1 serious and 8 minors. Honestly I thought I had passed. I want to do my test again instantly because the serious was me just losing my concentration for a slight moment.

If the serious happens towards the end of your driving test, it could be fatigue.

@@JamesTravis yes it was close to the end of the test. It said to leave at the third exit on a roundabout and I went into the right lane assuming it was a right turn but because it was a big roundabout I left on the left. Was very frustrating that I made that mistake.

In the last roundabout 10:00 minute where did it say right lane should be used going straight? I missed that. If the exist is to the right but still counts as “straight” in roundabout order shouldn’t left lane be used? Or if “straight” or 2nd exit is more to the right & requires turning right more or less then you use right lane when enter roundabout?

Yes the arrows in ground on approach asked you to use the right lane to go ahead or to go right. So if you were going right then nothing changes. If you were going ahead, then you would enter in the right and stay in the right until you have passed first exit, check mirrors and signal to exit roundabout.

@@JamesTravis thank you, I did not see those markings on the road to be honest ☹️but if they were there it actually makes sense: you approach in certain line not to change it suddenly when entering roundabout but to follow the lane until you exit. So you keep to your lane you arrived from whilst being on roundabout and change later.

The bus needs to cross my road to turn right. When turning right you need to give priority to oncoming traffic. So the bus gives way to myself in the left lane.

Yes they will accept it. But if all goes to plan and you pass(good luck I hope you do). Then at the end of test they will ask to keep your license and send the new one to the address on your provisional license. If this is a problem, I think the examiner will advise you to go to post office and ask for form to change your address.

I am on the page everyday with my theory about to expire next month and can’t seem to find a Theory or Practical test and the dates stop appearing in August / September. I think it’s 3 to 6 months wait now depending on area. I would check every hour if you have time, or even rope in friends to help you. Cancellation s. Appear every day, just need to keep checking. Good luck

They release new dates at 6am every Monday. This week, the test that we’re available were in February and so on. You can download apps that find cancellations too 👍

Good mirror checks is important. I do ask my students to check what is next to your shoulder, its like a half blind spot check.

Yes, if you can see it’s clear on both sides then you would carry on driving. But if you cannot see clearly, then you would need to slow down more and recheck and give way if needed.

Just keep checking till you see a spot. Then after booking a spot I get my students to use the Genie link to bring it closer.

@@benp7048 yes it’s classed as a minor driving fault. The important thing to remember is observations must continue and ask yourself, would you leave your own car like that. I had to double check that you weren't driving an auto. Not sure if steering a manual car left handed with your right arm resting on the window ledge is a good look for the test. Shouldn't we be keeping our right hands on the wheel so that our left hand is free for gear changes?

That’s a fair point. I was trying to not come across as too stuffy on camera, that’s why I was driving with my arm resting against the side to give a relaxed look when driving on a straight road or waiting to move off. When I am completing anything that involves steering I have both hands on the wheel. When it comes to steering on the driving test as long as you are in control of the steering and car then the examiner will not fault you. But I will take into account your comment when recording further videos.

If you can see and it’s clear after checking, then don’t stop. But if you cannot see or if it’s not fully clear, then slow down and expect to give way. If it’s a STOP junction, then you always stop and look.
