As someone who suffered with moderate acne every day since the age of 15, skincare isn't a "luxury". It's part of getting to look "normal" and considering how many people think acne is from someone being unhygienic having acne can be a major social disadvantage. I remember when I was younger I wanted to be a massage therapist, but I knew that spas may not want to hire a massage therapist who had acne because they might think I appeared dirty and didn't take good care of myself. It's very depressing to have a condition that people assume is an indicator that you're lazy and dirty, even though you probably take better care of your skin than the average clear-skinned person does. Proper skincare gives me the ability to get my skin as close to clear as it's been since I was a teenager, and that has given me so much relief. It's truly an investment in my mental well being.

@TheSwauzz 2 жыл бұрын
Were you openly mistreated by people, so you began assuming everyone thought like that? I don't assume people with acne are dirty/unhygienic. We can safely assume many others agree with that statement. You can't allow your "disadvantages" to hold you back. You have to keep trying because not everyone reacts the same, thinks the same or feels the same. Whatever harmful ways people have treated you, I'm really sorry. I wish kindness was easier for people.

Yeah I don't know why you feel that way. Sure kids in high-school can be cruel, but other than that I don't know of a single person who thinks just because you have acne that you are unhygienic. ? But referring to the context of skincare being a "luxury", IT IS a luxury for many people whether they have acne or not. Many people just can't afford skincare. When it's a choice between food/paying bills, etc., or buying a skincare product/routine, obviously they HAVE to skip purchasing skincare products. I understand what you meant, but just because someone has acne doesn't mean they have the means to treat it. So yes, it absolutely is a luxury for many people.

@@cassthompson3386 it's not fair to judge this person's experience, it's their experience not yours. I absolutely had the same experience, it's so common to be mistreated for having acne and to be told you are unhygienic. Acne can be distressing, it's well known in the medical field it's inextricably tied to poor mental health outcomes, depression, self- harm etc. Please rethink your opinions.

I know exactly what you mean! I'm in the medical field, and even in an industry that should know better I've had the same experience. It's a pity that people feel the need to chime in here and poo poo your concerns. You are valid. Your perspective is valid. Your concerns are valid.

@@cassthompson3386 By that logic, in the US having dental work done or going to the doctor would be a luxury for a lot of people. Many, many people just can't afford things that they need. It doesn't mean those things are a luxury. It means that we are perpetuating a system that is broken. When someone says, "I need this" just...believe them. They are the expert on their life.

I suffer from post traumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorder and both exercise as well as sleep is ultra important for me - it’s crucial for my wellbeing. Last few years I’ve amped up my skincare game and it’s made a world of difference in my well-being as well and doctors and nurses in my “team” have noticed and are actually telling me to “keep it up!” It’s amazing!

For me skin care, washing my hair regularly, showering regularly is part of the routine that helps me a lot with depression: having a routine helps you get out of bed and do things even when I don't feel like it ... it's not just a "cuddle" it's a real routine to keep yourself clean. Obviously the routine is also made up of many other things that involve cleaning the house, running errands regularly ... Until recently, I worked in skincare for a brand that told us that everything was safe for the "most sensitive" skin, and that one of the founders had rosacea (as do I) and everything (including strong acids and multiple exfoliators) were safe to use. These were luxury priced products and they RUINED my skin. I've been using a prescription rosacea treatment, but I just picked up a few of Beauty Bay's products (both moisturisers, mushroom serum and gel cleanser) and I can't stress how impressed I am. My redness has gone down, my skin is soft, none of them sting on application, nothing is heavily fragranced or full of sensitising essential oils. If you need rosacea-friendly basics, they are great!

I have really enjoyed using Essence Hello Good Stuff, various items. They don't have a ton of actives, but their products are soothing and moisturing and really help when my skin is irritated and breaking out. And they are extremely affordable.

That’s so interesting, I haven’t seen a chemical sunscreen that wouldn’t sting my eyes in years (I’ve been using a separate spf around my eyes, the same one for a very long time, and every time I try something new, I regret it immediately) but I had absolutely no problem with the Garnier one! But I agree, it’s very good, especially for oily skin.

Not sure if someone has already posted this comment, but the couple that created Farsali left the industry to focus on their relationship and fertility and it worked because they had a baby! They got their baby, so they got back into the industry. (I saw this story on their Instagram or something a few weeks ago). I loved the Farsali finishing spray. I would totally buy it again.

If you're in France go to pharmacies, amazing skincare at affordable price (La Roche Posay, Avène, Ducray, Uriage, Jonzac, etc) French brand Avril is pretty nice too and super cheap. Yves Rocher too, at least their sensitive skin line works well, just hunt for the sales.

For videos where you’re talking about prices, I think it would be beneficial to list the price per mil of product, in addition to the total price and total size. Because one of the cleansers was like 6 pounds but also has a super tiny container and you said a little doesn’t go a long way, so maybe it isn’t actually that good of a value as it first may appear. Love your videos btw.

I'm in my mid 40's. I have very very sensitive skin. Some spots are oily & other spots really dry. I've tried stuff from drugstores to brand name, & the cheaper ones don't make my face instantly itch, burn, or turn red like I have a bad sun burn. It's also why I don't use foundation or blush. Such a bummer. Right not I'm using Neutrogena sensitive face moisturizer daily. It's the only thing that doesn't keep my skin flare up. Im not even worried about getting wrinkles,, just healthy skin. I have learned so much since finding your channel a couple years ago. Thanks so much for sharing all your skincare knowledge. It's always great to watch you & your brothers on here.

I bought recently a moisturiser ‘ Rose Gold Rescue’ from Bliss for £5 in Boots and I am absolutely loving it! It’s got this very creamy and luxurious texture but sinks in to the skin so quickly! It’s definitely more for people with normal/combination/oily skin! It’s going to be my fav for summer! I honestly couldn’t believe how luxurious it feels for £5! It’s like a marshmallow/whipped cream texture.

My skin absolutely loves elfs happy hydration moisturiser with hemp in, I use this at night and it's so moisturising but not too heavy or sticky! I've also recently started using the blue bondi sands spf and I'm liking that so far! Leaves me with a nice glow. I'd be interested to try the byoma cleanser as I currently use corsx good morning cleanser but it leaves me a bit dry after use! Thanks for the tips James ✨️💜

Every 4-6 months I splash out on some more expensive skincare (like glow recipe, fenty skin, saturday skin, youth to the people, cosrx etc). In between that I top up with products from boots like simple and aveeno. I'm building up a morning and night, summer and winter routine that I like for both more expensive and budget products, throwing in recommends from this channel to change it up when I have some extra money to spoil myself

I am using CeraVe cleanser and either Niacinamide serum or VitC from The ordinary, and Embryolisse moisturiser plus La Roche Posay spf in the Am and then a cleanse, The Ordinary Granactive retinol and moisturiser with a tiny drop of rose hip oil from The Ordinary at night. Since I turned 40 my skin was always dry patchy and irritated until I invested in skin care. Now I rarely wear makeup and my skin glows.

One of my favorite vitamin C serums that is a dupe for the skinceuticals one is the timeless vitamin C one. It’s $22 so it’s not cheap cheap but compared to the skinceuticals one it’s relatively affordable and it has basically the same thing. I got it off of Amazon but I’ve heard of people getting it at CVS in the US.
