Sought advise from my best friend who is a retired police officer. To some I know that probably doesn't matter but to me it certainly does. Very valuable information on different scenarios. I think for me it's mostly about situational awareness. Head on a swivel, gut feelings about whether to stop at a certain place at night or not. Just be aware of your surroundings. And yes I know sometimes shit just happens and that's where the training will come in. My son is retired Navy and spent a lot of time doing security training and even he told me that " you just never know ". His advise to his old man - train, train and train some more! Wise kid. James Yeager is one of the premier firearms trainers in America. Get some training please. I have many friends with firearms AND only two or three have the necessary training to carry a gun or fight with a gun. Most untrained people will not be the heroes they think themselves to be. Many would be killed by criminals with knives, bats, bare hands or guns. Only, owning a firearm and getting PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, will say your life. Your cousin who was a clerk in the Marines, or friend who goes to the range and target shoots has no idea of how to help you become proficient with a firearm. YOU NEED PROFESSIONAL TRAINING. I did not know what i did not know until I received some training. Suddenly i realized that my firearm was not the end all for saving my life. It was the mindset and training if received that turned my firearm into a USEABLE self defense weapon. Spend money on training if you buy a weapon. Without the training you have very little to show for your money when buying a gun.
@John5.564 жыл бұрын
I think this is ridiculous. There are plenty of people who have successfully defended themselves without PROFESSIONAL TRAINING. Sure if you have the money and time to make it to a trainer that's a happy meal. If not spend as much time behind the gun as you can and get comfortable with it.
@civilwar414 жыл бұрын
@@John5.56 I agree. People really think that everyone has the time and money to pay for professional training when just buying a weapon , holster and mags plus permits is already difficult enough. Elitism would deprive these people of the right to self defense.

My basic rules. I do not ever get involved in something such as a fight between a couple guys, or even a fight between a guy and a gal. You simply do not know the circumstances. If you see some guy trying to force a young girl into a car, for instance, even then you have to be careful...what if that girl is his daughter and she is skipping school. In other words, that concealed weapon should come out ONLY when you or your immediate family is in immediate mortal danger (death or serious injury danger). Trying to be some kind of hero does not seem to work in this day and age. Two guys approached my car one night when I was in a parking lot looking at a map trying to figure out where a restaurant was located. One guy started demanding money and the other went around to the passenger back set trying to get the door open...dangerous situation. I pulled my Glock and told the man by my front window for him and his friend to back away from my car. I did not point the gun directly at him...he and friend complied. I left and that was that. I'm sure some leftist prosecutor would have charged me for "brandishing" a firearm.
