I honestly think when you’re mid renovations on a house, you’ve been desperate to get Jacks room ready, I was desperate to finish open plan kitchen, dining room and living room (not totally finished but floor was down even though skirting boards weren’t on, either was cornice and pelmet and top box over fridge freezer), you’ve been working on it right up to the last minute, you don’t get chance, particularly you with Vieve, to actually enjoy the lead up to Christmas throughout December. By the time you’ve stopped and panic about the stuff you need to still do and get, that festive feeling is just missing. Yes you make the most of it and to be honest, this was the best Christmas my autistic son has had, we’ve never had a Xmas day without a mega meltdown, and you end up enjoying it, but you know that once you get things completely finished, everywhere tidy and start to buy the little finishing touches, that next Christmas (regardless of anything going on in world) is going to be how you want it to be. I want to get everything sorted by November so from December 1st, I can honestly and truly enjoy every single bit of the build up and actually feel festive. Wishing you and Jack a truly wonderful new year x

Gurl, we are also working on a house we just bought and baaaaarely decorated for the holidays this year too. We threw up a white pencil tree that's pre-lit and put a star on top. We liked it just as it was so we didn't bother to decorate it. We didn't even put up a string of lights or garland across the mantle until Christmas Eve LOLs. I'm normally a person who goes all out but bc we're working on the house and bc of COVID et al? Just wasn't feeling it this year. We didn't even get each other or wrap anything! Our gift to each other was not having to do all that faff LOL. It honestly felt good. We just ate and drank a shitload and called it a day. Perfect in my mind.

Aww I just love this. I hope you had a lovely Christmas. Jamie in the car talking about having never felt less festive was me, I was channelling Grinch, but making tonnes of snacks and once I got all the pressies wrapped it was a bit better. My dog and my kids stockings arrived and we got the rest of the food we needed. Drogba trying to scout out his pressies gave me life. Reminds me of our GSD cross Husky, Eros he done the same, had to hide his little stocking til the evening before Xmas and he kept peering round trying to see where I was putting stuff & opening the door 😂😭.
