How To Transfer Pictures/Videos From iPhone To USB Flash Drive

TUTORIAL- how to transfer photos/videos from iPhone to a usb flash drive/stick, save or backup iPhone videos/photos to a usb flash drive.
BELOW I provided links to get the HEVC & HEIF codecs from Microsoft's Official website. Download them if you don't have them installed already on your Windows 10 computer/laptop and if your trying to play back videos & photos on your computer that you recorded in the High Efficiency (HEIF/HEVC) format.

Watch the entire video to the end, I had that happen also before and mine was because of the format I was using in the iPhone. You can record and take videos with two choices. 1 is the high efficiency and the other is most compatible, Sometimes depending on which one you have chose to record with could potentially cause that issue. Actually I think it was the most compatible mode that was causing mine to Just sit there and not copy over it was really weird

I do have some videos on that but that's probably because you use icloud photos and in order for all your photos and videos to show in the DCIM folder you would need to download them all to your iphone, so some have had luck just turning off icloud photos because I think it gives you the option of downloading them to your iphone directly first. It's been a while since I have messed with that, but I'm gonna do an up to date video soon on this issue again with the DCIM folder.

I feel so dumb. I was trying to help my friend put his stuff onto a usb drive...took forever to transfer 5GB of media from iPhone to "photos" on windows, and THEN from photos to usb drive...i fvckin knew I didn't need the photos app at all. Annoyed but validated 🤝 Also. 6:49 can you just transfer the files "as-is" back to the original device (aka iPhone) and have them work like normal? If not...ugh

You can transfer back but it works really well if you use iCloud and a PC to do it. Because iCloud syncs with all your devices so the photos will show right up back in your phone, I have other videos on my channel showing how to do this, you can scroll through my playlists to and find the videos I did in this

Ok I got you on everything but two things 1 I went into the DCIM file and have like 7 different folders and all of my videos and pictures are mixed up. Are they organized in any specific order or do you have to go through every single folder to find what your looking for. 2. Is there a way to create folder on your phone and it show up on that screen because it is easier to sort photos on the phone than in that tiny menu.

sometimes for differnet reasons those folders get created, so you might have to go through them to get all your stuff out and then I would recommend a factory reset on your phone that will get it back to normal and one folder so it's less confusing

I'll try this with my Nokia 7+ phone Previously when Ihave taken videos I have to return home to transfer the files to the computer, so i can deklete them from the phone to free up more space. Now i can simply take a USB stick and transsfer the files while out and about. I assume it's the same process to transfer from the phones memory card to the USB stick. Regards from the UK

Try another usb lighting cable and another port on the computer. Also reboot your phone and reset the privacy settings on your phone so it asks you again to trust the computer see if that helps

most of them should work fine but I have always used SanDisk flash drives and they have always worked well for me for years they are very reliable. But of course there are other brands that are very good as well and Samsung is very good also. Oh yeah you can always get like at least 256gb one to start so then you can store a ton of photos for like ever on it or larger the larger one you get the more they cost but at least you can save photos for like ever

Thank you so much for the video but I have a problem. When I go and where I am supposed to see 100 Apple I am seeing something different. Yes, I am seeing 100Apple it does not have nearly all of my photos. It also shows Apple101, 102, 103, and so on. Those are all empty. Please help me.

It could be because of so many pictures and the directory DCIM may just create a new folder or it could be due to updates with iOS and the camera roll, I'm gonna look more into it to find out exactly later, but it don't hurt anything, you can get rid of them but just deleting them might cause some issues if you were to try and delete the folders right from the DCIM directory, the best way to clean it up is to factory reset your phone, but first of course always backup your pictures and stuff to icloud or where ever you back up to.

you would have to download those to your computer first from the google photos, you can do it one by one or if you have a lot you might need to download in bulk, you have options to download everything at once from with in your google account because I have to do it when I switched from google photos over to iCloud

make sure you log out of icloud first on your old phone before you delete anything from it, then it should be fine to delete stuff off of it.

Jamie, I just watched this video and ran into the exact problem you mentioned at the 1:53 mark of your video. I first double-clicked on “Apple iPhone” then clicked on INTERNAL STORAGE. It shows that my iPhone 12 account is empty, with no data/ photos/ movies on it, which of course is not correct. You mentioned that you would have another link, to another one of your tutorials where I could find the answer to this problem. Unfortunately, I do not see that link below. Can you supply me with the link, or what the answer to my question would be? What is the work around for when INTERNAL STORAGE indicated that there is no data on my iPhone? Thanks in advance.

You can't really remove the DCIM and I would try and use iCloud to move stuff over, you can upload those to iCloud and then they will sync across your devices

I do this but it doesn't move all the files. My daughters iPhone is full and when I move the files to a flash driver it stops, or it moves only a couple of the files. It will move over like 2GB of 59GB. Pissing me off.

I think I had that issue before and it upset me as well, but I think when it happened to me, I just reboot my phone and the computer and then started over and tried from the beginning and it worked for me, so that could work for you or it might not, you might have another issue going on and sometimes it's hard to tell

Will I be able to transfer more than 8000+ photos and videos together? And if so will I be able to put some back onto my phone if I delete everything off my phone? I’m trying to solve my low storage problem thanks❤

Yes it will but sometimes it can have issue's transferring larger quantities, sometimes it runs into issues and complains that a file is to big or the name is not compatible or whatever just sometimes it errors out for what ever reason it comes up with and you end up having to start over. But it should work I don't think there is any limits

Jamie, thank you so much for the video. Very helpful. I did have a challenge I would like to point out. For some reason when I select all for my pictures and then attempt to paste them to the thumb drive I get a (Error Copying File or Folder Message.) The device is unreachable. Do you know what I did wrong? Thanks again

Could be few different issues, try first restart your computer, also try another USB port, see if that makes a difference

have you tried to reset your privacy settings on your iPhone? sometimes that works? but it could be some other issue your having
